Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. I remember the Izvestia. Also I can remember the European clubs playing the NHL teams in the early 90's.
Yeah, Super Series where euro clubs played NHL teams.
In the 70s and 80s it was heated but by the time I started watching hockey it was just exhibition.

Izvestya Cup just changed the name after the sponsor. It's Channel One Cup now and is still part of the Euro Hockey Tour
Not only Izvestia, but also several other papers had their own tournaments back in the day. The Soviet club edition carried the name of Sovetsky Sport, and Czechoslovakia had for a while the Pohár Rudého práva similar to Izvestia Trophy.
