For the greater good the King should retire

Terrible ask to have to make but the Rangers would be so much better off if the King agreed to retire this season. If Henrik would the Rangers could sign Kreider, Strome & ADA and have an excellent goaltender tandem of Shesty/Georgi, extremely well priced as well.

I don't think he should retire, but I definitely think he should waive is NMC and let the team find him a better opportunity to win a Cup. I could understand sticking around he we had won a Cup or two during our hey day. But at 38, no Cup, no chance at all to win one with this team...you'd think he'd want to chase that final achievement.

The only way this is remotely possible is for the Rangers to become complete A-Holes to the best player they have ever had. They would need to Flat out tell him he's no longer on the team. Force him to decide if he even wants to play any more, and have the answer be no. It's not going to happen. There's still people bitter about Brian Leetch being traded. To set aside the entire career of Lundqvist and throw him out the door is not an option.
