Flyers fire John Tortorella, name Brad Shaw interim head coach

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

Well, after the comments he made the other day, I'm not surprised.

Interesting though... I don't personally recall the last time a coach stepped down voluntarily during a season, as opposed to being fired.
probably a save face way of the org firing him.

Those comments were unacceptable, but probably gave him the option of getting fired or stepping down. Guy with his ego probably took the saving face over the money.

Paul Maurice did it in Winnipeg

Can't say I'm surprised. It seemed he already had a foot out the door when he said the comments. You can't have someone half committed to his job at this level.

Wait, I thought his fans said his comments the other day were taken out of context. He did Philly brass a favor. Prob told him we’re firing you or you can “step down”…at the end of the day he guided them to a high pick so no harm no foul for this yr but the Flyers really need to hire a capable, modern coach.
