They got a bye first round

next round played a team playing their 3rd stringer instead of their all star goalie as well as boeser missing game 7 and Pettersson being in a complete funk. barely won

Then played dallas and 40 year olds who had no gas

This was their one shot and they blew it
I guess going by this logic Florida really has no reason to celebrate, do they?

The pain of losing in the SCF aside, IMO it’s more painful to have 14.5 M of cap space locked on Nurse and Campbell

Ah the myth of the non-traditional market teams, when it's actually the opposite.

The fan bases in non-traditional markets tend to be much more dedicated and hardcore because you have to be to follow the team. They're not the story on the news every night. They're not the front page. They're not the main topic of sports conversation. They're not on the tv in the bars. You had to ask them to turn off some other sport to watch the game.

Being a fan of a hockey team in non-traditional market is like being part of a secret society. You see someone in the team jersey and give a nod "I see you."
Exactly.

Oilers winning the cup means absolutely nothing. They got their legacy of Gretzky and cups and even if the team goes 0-82, they'll still have shit loads of hockey fans and TV contracts..... and their millionth first round draft picks. lol

Small market teams in any sport live and die off success and having fans in seats unless it's a very controlled league like the NFL who does massive revenue sharing where even the smallest market gets a solid cut.

Great game. Bob was aggressive in 3rd. Kulikov saved the game. Rodrigues was all over the ice. Great team D

For Oilers, can't help feel for McDavid. Skinner should have been pulled way earlier. Bright spot was the play of Broberg. Kid has a really bright future. Skinner showed flashes of brilliance. Hopefully he can build on it.

I don't recall them playing Washington or the Islanders in the 1st round.

Argument is in shambles.

The Cats made everyone's dreams come true. Let the Oilers even the series in gentlemanly fashion and then ended their dreams it to hoist the Cup at home.

Respect to the Oilers for showing heart and drive. That says alot more about your team than just losing the Cup.
