I disagree that Montreal has similar high end players as a team like Tampa Bay. Kucherov, Point, Hedman, and Vasilevskiy as a top end core are much better than Montreal’s. As it stands now Montreal has a bottom tier roster in the league (which is not surprising as they go through this rebuild as some of their top end prospects are still playing in other leagues).
How long did it take TBay to assemble that core? Let alone when they came into their own at NHL

.....brutal.

The Montreal Bergevins ( Anderson, Gally. Dvo ) have played well enough to get chances, but not cash in................the clown GM still haunts us.
Bergy was just now applying his makeup when you referenced him. How did you know? 💀

Fair enough.

But Tampa Bay didn't even know they had superstars. They emerged over the years. Kucherov wasn't even drafted in the first round. You coulnd't have predicted Braden Point would be as good as he was.

We're in stage one of a rebuild. We don't know how good Demidov or Hutson or Fowler or RB or even Slaf will be. Even CC hasn't really established himself yet. I think it's safe to say we have a couple of potential stars and a lot of really good young prospects. Maybe we won't have the high end talent of Tampa (few teams do) but I don't think we'll come out of this rebuild without at least a superstar - probably two or three.
The drubbing in the 3rd period last night, has brought out all the HF negative posters for sure.

We have a ton of good prospects, but no one wants to wait.

Moves? Plural? Kent Hughes??

Nah not his style.

Buddy how about just one move to cut the bleeding — a new back up goalie, so our players don’t give up 3 minutes into a 60min contest.
I got some bad news for you bro, getting a better backup goalie isn't going to stop this team getting blown out and making moves for the sake of making moves is not an intelligent decision.

I didn’t say to make a move for the sake of making a move, did I?

WWT! what was up with the Pens? someone on the team say that they'd treat everyone to night out at the Stock bar if they humiliate Montreal? Did a real good job at showing how team slow Montreal is and the Pens are not young. Anyone here see any of them at the club?

Getting a backup goalie because the one you currently have is a complete sieve isn't a move just for move sake.

This team isn't competing this year so what is it for then? We gonna go garage sale shopping to get a back up instead of having a much better selection in the offseason? What's does that serve exactly? Oh wow we lose 7-2 instead of 9-2 and the crybabies sleep better at night?

Then don't try to get better at any position and just continue to draft top 5 for the next 10 years, that will work.

It's an anti-tank move, so I'm against it :P
Yeah, I am all in on the tank as well. They are so bad everywhere and the season was over first week of November, a top pick is all that is left to root for. I'm ok if they go Ofer the rest of the year.

Right because if you don't make moves immediately you never will. The motto of the reactionary.
There is nothing reactionary by replacing Primeau now. We have all seen he isn't an nhl goalie. Lol, who needs more sample size to come to that conclusion.

2007-2008 : draft Stamkos miss playoffs
2008-2009 : draft Hedman miss playoffs
2009-2010 : draft Brent Connelly 6th (bust) and miss playoffs
2010-2011 : last hurrah from previous core and reach the stanley cup semi-final and draft low but get lucky with Kucherov in the 2nd round
2011-2012 : draft Slater Koekkoek 10th (bust) and Vasilievski 19th and miss the playoffs as vets keep declining
2012-2013 : draft Drouin 3rd (bust) and miss playoffs
2013-2014 : Kucherov 1st season they make the playoffs and don't look behind

If we exclude the exception that was 2010-2011 where the vets got out of their coffin for one last dance they made the playoffs 6 years after they drafted Stamkos, 5 years after Hedman and 3 years after Kucherov.

Yeah and maybe they want to wait until the selection is better? Why are we in a rush exactly?

Losing doesn’t become winning no matter how much you want it to. They have to learn to win, to play with an edge, to close out games, etc.

They have to learn to show up to play.

Worst period in Habs history?
far from... the worst time period has literally been the past 30 years (give or take a few lucky playoff wins): WSH, PIT, TOR, WPG, LV, etc... not once in all those years have we gone into a season with true expectation(s) of making a Cup run.

It has been brutal watching this type of hockey, and I couldn't be happier that we are bottom picking for the past 4 years. Another important draft in 2025, picking up a Misa/Frondell type of thing to add depth behind Hage/Beck coming up through the program.

CH management had literally run the company/team into the ground on the backs of a fanbase who will always sell out. Building takes time, we are fine.. Once the brutal deadweight vets get shipped to Siberia, the cap going up will give us a lot to work with - buying an FA, trade need for need with a willing partner, etc...

just relax guys.. this is completely normal. You want Hugo to go out an load up on journey vets to push us towards a Wild Card, miss and pick 15th? cmon!
