San Diego weather has rain in the forecast for Saturday. Not good.
yep. weather channel predicting saturday late pm showers.

whether a fast or muddy track it still will not matter. most of the contenders over the years that ran in past editions of delmar breeders cups just didn't take to the track surface. if i remember correctly form does hold up on the turf.

New York's forexasted weather for Saturday is more suitable than that of San Diego for an event of this magnitude. That will work in NYRA's favor as a potential host city. We remember the abysmal conditions of Monmouth and Belmont all too well in the distant past. But though off-track racing is part of the analysis of the sport, it is better production under nicer weather. Maybe the showers forecasted will be minimal on Saturday. Friday looks splendid in San Diego.

Belmont at Aqueduct (New York):
  • Race 8: The $1 Pick 6 paid over $74,000.
Laurel (Maryland):
  • Jevian Toledo-Brittany Russell won their first three tandems but failed to go 4-for-4 with a 3-to-5 shot. Nonetheless, another exceptional day for both rider and trainer.
  • Brittany Russell is 11 6-3-0 the past three racing days at Laurel. Russell is the leading trainer at the meet, which runs through December 29, with 29 wins (37%) which is 14 more than her closest challenger. She is currently ninth in wins in North America between household names Michael Maker and Todd Pletcher.

Churchill Downs (Kentucky):
  • Tyler Gaffalione won his final four rides, all in consecutive races.
Horseshoe Indianapolis (Indiana):
  • Oscar Villarreal, an apprentice, won four times on board five mounts.
  • Deshawn Parker tied Kent Desormeaux with 6,175 wins, 16th best in North America annals.
  • Happy Halloween: Rachel McLaughlin dressed amusingly as a witch during the simulcast feed that originates from Indiana. Happy Halloween to all.
1730418555860.png

Del Mar (California):
  • Opening Day: The meet ends December 1.

Maryland Jockey Club announced 120 racing dates for 2025 with just six dates at Pimlico and the rest at Laurel. This excludes Timonium around Labor Day which is separate from the MJC. Sadly, Maryland will not compete with (Colonial Downs via Churchill Downs) Virginia in July and August and as such racing will be barren for much of those months.

Maryland will be void of racing from.June 29 to August 22 when Timonium (state fair) opens.

Gulf's ninth race paid out the Pick 3 to those who won two legs. No one hit all three races. I am not sure if I have seen that at Gulf.

$63.6 million bet on Friday's Breeders' Cup csrd which represents the second highest total in history for the Friday portion of the 2-day event.

I’ve never been in the gate, and I never would do that job because it seems you’d have to be clinically insane. But it looked to me that they took their good sweet time opening the gate.

30/1 winner, didn’t even win a group race in Europe? She wins here? Was this a good field? I’ve not been close enough to see it this year.
