Flames Have 4 Alternate-Captains and Johnny Gaudreau Isn't One of Them

Backlund, Tanev, Monahan, and, Tkachuk are the 4 alternate-captains for the Flames.

Kinda strange that Johnny Hockey isn't one of them, right?

After signing to a sweetheart contract, leading the flames in scoring for 6 seasons, you'd think he'd be one of the guys in line to be captain once Giordano left. However, they decided to select 4 alternate captains, quite shockingly Gaudreau wasn't named one of them.

Now that he's on pace for 100+ points, leading the flames to the playoffs with his contract ending this year, does Gaudreau resign with Calgary?

Even if Gaudreau has a monster playoff run with Calgary, I highly doubt he'd re-sign with the team that snubbed him.

Monahan has been a full time alternate for like 5 years now, Backlund and Tkachuk have been alternating for like 3 years. Tanev basically replaces Gio's spot there as the "D among the Captains".

I honestly don't understand the point of this post

If I was the face of a franchise for nearly a decade, and, dragged them into the playoffs, I'd be pretty pissed that 4 guys were selected ahead of me for Alternate-Captain.

Especially, when you take into consideration that he signed to a steal of a contract, I most definitely think he'd never re sign with Calgary.

I think you're assuming having an 'A' is important to everyone. Johnny seems like a quiet, more passive guy, and he's not going to drop the gloves to defend someone.

what if that’s why he doesn’t care, he’s out. Back to the east coast, if he wants an A he can probably pull that off…if he wants
