I actually think Philadelphia won the trade too. Kuz might go back to his scoring form and pelletier is a very nice young player plus 2nd round picks are always sweet.

I think this deal would have been fine if it was just that, though. Kuzmenko and a 2nd for Farabee at least makes a bit of sense. I still think it’s not great for Philly but I can squint and see how it makes sense if they’ve soured on Farabee.

Downgrading from Frost to Pelletier in addition, though? Pelletier was waived earlier this year. Just a bizarre decision to do all of that.

4 2nd round picks to play with instead of 3 makes a difference plus they get a nice young player in Pelletier and plus an added 5-8 million in cap space depending on how much they were going to sign Frost for, this gives them a bunch of added flexibility for 2 guys that are pretty replaceable.

Kuzmenko is off the books this season. Farabee has three more years at five. Flyers open up five more mil July 1. It might not be a smart move, but it looks like the direction they’re heading. Clear cap for free agency by trading contracts with term for coming UFAs.

Maybe I'm too high on Farabee, but that part of it makes no sense to me.

Something around Frost for Pelletier makes alot of sense for the Flyers imo. But given Pelletier isn't established & they don't get a higher pick for including Farabee & taking on Kuzmenko... (Maybe teams just don't rate Farabee that highly & I'm off on him?)

Farabee seems like a guy who could be a long term 2nd liner for Calgary - which none of the assets they move are likely to be - and they also get a roll of the dice on Frost who's certainly talented.

As a rival I don't like this deal, but its a smart move by Conroy imo.
