For whatever reason, Elliott hasn't been a good fit with the Flames and Johnson has stolen the starting position, IMO, at least. I do feel he is a much better goalie than his numbers suggest and could solidify the Flyers situation in net.

Flyers:
Elliott

For

Flames:
Neuvirth and Weal

I have no idea who Weal is haha.

Still haven't lost faith in Elliot. He's still playing way better than what we went through last year.

Why would the Flames trade for a backup that's out until at least late-December?

Obviously the deal couldn't happen until Neuvirth has recovered, what is it, out for 6 weeks? I'm personally very high on Weal and Elliott is currently in a backup situation for the Flames right now.

He's a great AHLer [All-Star in 2015] who just hasn't been able to translate his game to the NHL. I think it's very unlikely that he ever will.

Personally I don't think the kids had a fair shot yet. A grand total of 14 games NHL experience, spread over two opportunities ....barely time to even settle in.

I doubt we trade Elliott so soon after acquiring him.

It seems you really just want Weal. Why not just offer Vey or Poirier for him?

Ahh forgot we acquired him with a year left. But still, we traded for him at the draft. It's not even December, we aren't going to trade him right now.

I agree, especially to sell him low. He easily could rebound if the team successfully adapts to whatever GG is trying to do.

Maybe I'm overvaluing Weal but he's much more talented than Vey and I'm not ready to give up on Poirier yet. I also don't see the Flyers moving Weal unless it has the potential to better them.

I don't really think they view Weal as much more than an AHL player. He might only be worth a 3rd or later

Weal passed through waivers earlier in the season. His value is negligible.

Weal is like a less skilled Sam Gagner. He's small, not particularly fast, and weak on his skates. He doesn't have the vision or IQ to play well on the perimeter, and he's pushed around far too easily to play anywhere else.

Does not make much sense for Calgary. Elliott hasn't played well so far, but he is still better then Neuvirth. Plus Weal is more then likely a career AHLer. The value just isn't there.

Pretty sideways deal. And a lot of the fan base seems adverse to small forwards, which Weal is. We have a pretty damn good forward core on Stockton, and don't see a need for him on the flames.

And Weal is basically what it boils down to being about, right? Cause trading Elliot before he's even had half a season for a career backup is poor asset management. See how Elliot does, trade at draft or let him walk if he isn't great.

he hasn't been able to crack two NHL rosters. He has had a shot.
