So for the last five years or so I have been doing this poll, and I take very little pleasure in how poorly we have done. Over the years we've seen such takes as Kakko over Fox, Vesey over Skjei, Bereglazov over Pionk, etc.

Last year we kind of got it right, with a majority of us picking Shesty over Lafreniere.

Now that we have a pretty good idea of who is in the opening night lineup, we have what I expect will be a relatively close contest this season, between two skilled guys from Europe- one who will start on the third line, the other the third pairing, and both likely will be on the second PP unit.

Who ya got, and why? Also if you pick other- let us know who. Gauthier is no longer a rookie.

okay, based on this it's not what rookie was most impressive preseason,
but
who projects to have most impact during the season...

Ans.
IF IF IF they listen to me and experiment with Kravtsov in pivot, then yes Krav

If not, prob Nils

also, not the single most impressive but if he gets called up enuf games due to F injury, Barron will wow.

did not vote but dem is my answers

Not sure when it happened, but somewhere along the line, the Kravtsov hype train passed me by.

I think he's a damn good prospect, but I wouldn't even consider taking him against the field here, while Lundkvist and Jones are both part of that group. It is going to be very hard for him to get opportunities to be that impactful guy.

Going in I would say Kravtsov and Lundkvist are about even right now and I got them pegged for 3rd line and 3rd pairing. A lot will depend if Kravtsov can break out of that third line and at least get some top 6 opportunity. That may only happen because of injury(ies).Lundkvist is just not going to displace Fox as first option power play quarterback which is going to mitigate on his offensive production. He is going to need to be defensively reliable enough and take advantage of whatever offensive opportunities he does get. I wouldn’t discount either one of them playing in Hartford a bit this year either.

We might actually need a tiebreaker this year for the first time ever.

Had to go Kravtsov here. He was really good last year in the KHL setting up plays off the RW and getting more shots in high danger areas. I could see him and Dylan Cozens having great chemistry moving forward
