First game ideas

I'm looking into going to the game for the first time after being such a long time Sharks fan. I want to introduce someone to the NHL and the Sharks, and what better way than to take that person to a live game.

When it comes to purchasing individual tickets, what's the best way to go about it? Where would it be best to buy individual tickets? Also, any idea which game to book for this season? It doesn't have to be rivals as it's likely meaningless to someone watching hockey for the first time. Perhaps a high-scoring team like Edmonton or Colorado? Do ticket prices vary wildly?

Luckily, I'm locally based so don't need to worry about hotel/flight.

First game will be special. What was your first game?

While the team is still bad I would recommend getting tickets against a fellow rebuilding team

It means you have a better shot at seeing a win and if these last few years have shown me anything it's that games between two bad teams can be a lot of fun, very sloppy but very high event with lots of scoring chances

Seeing a bad team you root for get crushed by a powerhouse is a bummer, I wouldn't go see the Oilers or Knights come to town, maybe look for tickets against the Ducks or Blackhawks

My first ever game that I can remember was like 1987. I was a Habs fan at the time and I remember watching Chris Chelios fight (it was against Boston). The Forum was a wild place.

If you want electricity and money is no big deal try and go to the home opener. Tickets aren't ridiculous and it'll probably be the most anticipated debut in sharks history.

You are right in that going home with a win is a better experience, and those wins might be hard to come by. A game against Chicago would actually be entertaining for me as well being able to watch Bedard and Celebrini together. And Chicago does give up a lot of goals.

I'm biased because these are the games I'm flying in for so far, but I'm going to the home opener (see Smith and Celebrini's first games, it'll be a full house with lots of energy), Jumbo's number retirement 23 Nov (will be a packed house, a historic event, and again it's a winnable game), or the LA game right after, the week of T-giving (old rival, BEAT L.A. chant, lots of longtime fans coming home for the holiday, and pseudo-winnable game).

Go for LA or the Ducks so you get that rivalry. (side note, I wish we'd do "BEAT LA!!!" when Anaheim is in town, hahah, I'd guess they'd like it even less than LA does...)

I'm partial to the front row of the upper deck or back row of the lower bowl for seating.

I think for the true Shark experience you should take them to a hopeless game where Celebrini isn't playing. If someone's going to be indoctrinated into this fandom they need to do so by learning that hope is an illusion and all that stands between us and the meaningless void is the futility of effort.

You don't want people thinking that Sharks hockey is fun. It's an exercise in masochistic defiance.

two seasons ago I went to my first game in some time, and it was the only game where tickets were sold above face (between xmas and NYE when people are off and visiting family) and the Sharks lost in OT to the Flyers. AND we didn't get tacos.

THAT is a true Sharks' fan experience
