If McDavid wants a (or multiple) Stanley cup, he's going to wait it out, leave Edmonton through free agency in July 26 and sign a (slight) discount contract with a quality franchise that has a competitive roster.

You saw that in the nfl. Denver gives up 2 first and 2 seconds for Russ Wilson, vs signing Manning when they did years ago. Same with Brady signing in TB. Not taking away from the roster.

Edm will have a boatload of cap room for 26/27 but would be replacing a lot of players with very few prospects in the pipeline to take those spots. Convincing free agents to sign there always a challenge for them.

People need to remember Connor McDavid was born in Canada, so the chance he's going to leave Canada, or Edmonton after especially one of his very best friend Leon was given a block buster extension is about 1 percent, and maybe even nill.

Why do people here think a player born in Canada is wanting to come to the US?

Hypothetically speaking, of course. I think he stays in Edmonton. Maybe on a 3-4 year deal, but he stays.
