Value of: Fire up the McDavid trade and sign proposals!

This guy has a NMC. I'm not saying he's not going to lift it but why should he? In order to acquire McDavid, a team would need to gut itself and then, what is the point of him landing there?

If McDavid wants a (or multiple) Stanley cup, he's going to wait it out, leave Edmonton through free agency in July 26 and sign a (slight) discount contract with a quality franchise that has a competitive roster.

Lafreniere or Cuylle (retention, sign & trade w/ retention for Cuylle)
Miller or Schneider (sign & trade w/ retention with either)
Perreault
Emery
1st

EDIT: This is strictly no NTC/NMC players. If I could dump Shesterkin in the deal instead of one of the non-Emery pieces, i'd do it in a heartbeat

You saw that in the nfl. Denver gives up 2 first and 2 seconds for Russ Wilson, vs signing Manning when they did years ago. Same with Brady signing in TB. Not taking away from the roster.

Edm will have a boatload of cap room for 26/27 but would be replacing a lot of players with very few prospects in the pipeline to take those spots. Convincing free agents to sign there always a challenge for them.

1000000% Oilers management is too dumb to trade him. Theyll go for it next season, lose him for nothing, and well watch Draisaitl fade into oblivion.

This ^^^

If he makes it to UFA he seems like the type of guy that could go way off the board. Can't see him wanting to go to a New York type environment. He's so unassuming.

Future Utah Mammoth.

(I think he stays in Edmonton)

I'm not too worried about this. He'll sign in Edmonton.

The real questions have to arise concern Stan Bowman and his ability to sign and trade for complementary players.

Wyatt Johnston + Thomas Harley + whatever first rounders we can even trade

Hypothetically speaking, of course. I think he stays in Edmonton. Maybe on a 3-4 year deal, but he stays.
