He’s good for the team to tank and is easily switchable, but Kyle on the other hand is gonna ruin this team for many years and Danny is not gonna notice until we have lost another decade of our lives. It’s Stan 2.0 all over again. None of his signings have made much sense monetarily wise, all overpaid.

You understand that Davidson was willing to overpay for Dickinson and Foligno (and likely Mrazek too) bc he needed to entice them to stay on a bad team for the next two years, right? They've proven themselves useful on the ice and valuable in the room. They're guys KD wanted to bring back. The money they're making is irrelevant bc the Hawks aren't going to be close to the cap at all over the terms of their deals.

Interesting comments from LR this morning on Tocchet:

Said Richardson: “He’s coaching just the way he played. The [Canucks] play a ferocious, offensive, forechecking, attack game. ... He’s such a great motivator and he’s always excited — he’s got a lot of energy when he comes to the rink. That festers right into the team, and they look like they’ve been transformed.”

LR is the complete opposite and so are the results (of course lack of on ice talent major factor).

I was really excited to see Sandord, Katchook, Entwistle and Johnson instead of Guttman and Reichel.

Why do anything with NHL shifts when you can just waste most of them on guys on the way out?

The injuries have given this staff and FO too much cover for some of the decision making.

Just braindead decisions.

Because watching the game is a way better way to learn than playing. Also, it’s a great way to build confidence in a player who’s struggling. (All sarcasm)

Just added "can't get ready to play following a long break"

What does Richardson do good?

I don't recall a coach who hasn't done anything in the history of Chicago sports having more dedicated apologists this far into a tenure.

Just wondering, did you happen to see what the lineup looked like?

Did you watch last night's game? They carried play in the second and most of the third. They're just really bad.

I couldn't care less about Richardson, but look at the lineup this team ices every night. It's laughable to make any conclusions about his coaching with this god awful roster.

I was at the game. The 2nd was better and Minn was much worse. The 3 was a little sharper.

Maybe he is inspiring them at intermission with the "bleed all over them, let em know you're there" stuff, but it looked like players kicking themselves in the rear.

They played hard the same way a team plays hard when a coach gets fired that week or a player goes out injured. They weren't ready to start the game, and even when the effort was there and the execution was off (because of skill) on the roster, there were plenty of bad reads, bad decisions, and a lack of urgency retrieving some pucks.

I don't get hung up on the execution, the roster isn't built to execute, it's the decisions and the lead up to those decisions that has me frustrated and seeing more wasted shifts than there needs to be. Puck chasing and watching doesn't upset me most of the time when a team is bad, it's going to happen and while it's better than 3 months ago in those departments the rest of the league is better too.

Big picture: Soderblom is a mess (not too much on coaching imo), Kaiser is down, Guttman is down (he may be hanging around a bit), KK is struggling on his strong points of his game, Reichel is a soup sandwich. Journeymen 12-14 fwds and AHL types seem to be doing okay, Vlasic is doing very well, Bedard doesn't count. I'm looking at what has gone on that can carry forward and I'm just having a real tough time finding much of anything...and that's before breaking down the shift to shift decisions.

Minnesota did not play well either.

Players play hard and the team appears to remain in good spirits despite all the losing. Players that should be begging for trades out of town are actually wanting to re-sign.
The "good spirits" is a fair point. On the flip side of that, I think wondering why some players sit and get called up or down is related to the "spirits" as well. I can see both.

Agreed on Dickinson but outside of him, I'm not sure there's a player that has a chance to go to a better team.

Mrazek seems just happy to play and to have rehabilitated his career and Foligno's cap hit made him borderline stuck and no club was going to give him 2 years at that price and toi as he practices for his post playing career being the official "mouth" for all the things.

Bad hockey players make bad decisions. LuRich has proven he can turn chicken shit into chicken salad. Give him quality ingredients and expecting a quality meal is the real test. Definitely an incomplete grade for me and I've criticized the man plenty.

you look at the line combinations to start the game and it's not even 10 minutes and they are all jumbled up again. if you practice with certain line mates in practice keep them together in the games. there is zero continuity. with the lines which means more losing for the blackhawks anyone can see it

I wouldn't dispute that he could do well with a good roster. That's not the job though.

20 games on the road is a sample size
More than a season and a half is a sample size.
Nobody is looking to win.

I'm looking for something they do well to build off of. Entries, retrievals, forecheck, etc. Maybe getting more out of most of the kids. Playing style, culture, etc. Maybe just show patience with the kids. Back each other up like when Mrazek is clipped in the first, etc. just not seeing much to build on.

It's just dress, skate around, try hard a little bit, make excuses a little bit, suck for 10-30 minutes almost every night.

No doubt Foligno is well-compensated based on his on-ice value, but unless he really is the world's greatest actor and able to somewhat shamelessly fake it for the sake of padding his career earnings, he seems generally content to be playing out his twilight NHL years on a terrible team and being the wise old mentor to a teenager. No doubt that speaks highly to Foligno's own character, but I think the coach deserves a bit of an acknowledgement for fostering a good culture as well.

I think the enthusiasm is genuine,

At the end of the day it's 9 million when he's 37 and 38 and a significant role on and off of the ice he hasn't had in a while . Not many players can boast that, and I don't think there's a comp for a guy coming from a 4th line at 35yrs.

I think it has more to do with the market and roster and the paycheck than anything about Richardson.

Marcus Foligno is going to be paid $4 million per til 2028 and he has 9 goals in 46 games this season(Nick has 10 in 44)

Jamie Benn will get paid $9.5 million for next season and he has 9 goals in 51 games this season….

What a f***ing joke

You have him playing with f***ing Entwistle and he helps setup goal and your going to bench him for next game.

Go f*** yourself already Luke

Luke has picked his whipping boy and he is going to bury him. It’ll be hilarious when the Hawks get shutout next game, but it won’t be Raddysh or whoever’s fault.
