its preseason so can't get carried away in either direction with results but...

for all the talk about being the hardest working team in the league there's been little to no sign of it, particularly from guys who should be going all out to try and earn a spot. its one thing for mika and trouba to look like they're going through the motions out there...but tonight was a garbage effort from almost the entire lineup, starting with igor. i'd say gauthier, chytil, barron were the only guys who showed much of anything and even that was limited to spurts. nils at least looked a lot more comfortable out there but wasn't anything special.

this was a pretty crap lineup and no ones really used to the players theyre on the ice with so have to take it all with a grain of salt. but so far in every game the most disappointing and concerning issue has been zero signs of any discipline within a system or purpose with the puck. its the same gongshow we've watched the last few years where the d are slapping pucks around or making long passes to guys standing still on the wall or leading them into lines with no real estate and no outlet. few pucks retrieved down low and purposeless slapping them around when they are, shots from awful spots..which if done to get rebounds for traffic in front are good...we just get forced outside with no support and fire from the goal line for whatever reason. no regroups where we cross the line with support and outlets that show any purpose of setting up a decent opportunity....all in all we're just running around without any structure all over.

again, its hard to know what can be attributed to weird lineups, new systems, preseason sluggishness and what should be setting off alarm bells. personally think this was just a garbage effort all around and not worth getting too worked up over. but if we see the same when we ice what will likely be what we start the year with the last two preseason games i will be worried. losses and mistakes happen...but the one thing with turk i absolutely expect to see substantial change in is the way we get the puck moving up ice and have a purpose to it. if we're the same shtshow slapping the puck around and unable to generate offense that doesn't come from a 2 on 1 or breakaway we're in for a rough start and potentially a long year.

Early observations (purely conjecture).
Sammy Blais is playing like a player that doesn’t want to be here.
He didn’t watch the team last game that he wasn’t playing in and in his other Rangers start he gets called for a phantom goalie interference penalty and skates straight to the box with no argument. Wondering if he rather sit for two than play.
Can the Rangers have K’Andre Miller checked for Haphephobia? I swear in his short NHL career I cannot recall him once taking the body.

Other teams are playing scrubs also.
Sure and the other teams playing scrubs shouldn’t overreact to results good or bad.

Of course there’s things that annoy me about their play tonight but I’m not going to let it outweigh the space it deserves in the overall analysis. It’s not good but it’s also not a reason to act like the house is on fire. It’s preseason. This game happens in January and I’ll sure as shit be singing a different tune.

What team's playing their full squad in preseason? We played a top 10 player in the NHL against a team with no NHLers on and had to scrape together a win 3-2.

Im more suggesting, I want to skip the pre-season and see the team.

So you throw out the game completely? We had our #1 center playing this game, our #1 goalie playing this game, Kreider who's a top line guy for us, our #2 d-pairing. If we were any good we'd have these guys show something. Or if they worked as hard as Gallant makes it sound like they will. f***, this team is another mess of a franchise but unlike the Giants have been a laughing stock their entire history.

Someone please post the GIF of Tinordi missing the puck completely and then eating glass. That's his game summarized. Why, oh, why, did we sign this guy? He might be top 3 worst players I've seen in almost 30 years of watching this team.
Are we that far removed from Tanner Glass?

Maybe it's going to take a heck of a lot longer to rid the Quinn out of the players? There is no discernible difference in the quality of hockey at all so far. It's exactly the same looking shit. Except the bench boss has less hair and is 40 pounds heavier.
