not much good to say about that. Rangers depth players have not played well, most of the vets are coasting, lots of the same problems from last year have obviously not been "fixed"
plenty of work to be done here but maybe we don't need to see more of players like Geirtsen, McKegg, etc
Players are gonna have to start stepping up and executing like they're being expected to

Dude, after white-knighting Quinn for the entire 2020-21 season, not even I expected to read this [before the first regular season game.]

Come on HF, open those floodgates.

I don't give Gallant a pass because it's preseason, there were plenty of decent players on the ice. Do I think it's a foregone conclusion that they'll suck? No. But this game and the Islanders game were inexcusable, preseason or not. They are -9 in 3 games with one win where Panarin played against an ECHL team. We're not Tampa where she shouldn't care about preseason. The Rangers needed to have at least a mediocre showing in the preseason.

Other teams are playing scrubs also.

2019-2020 preseason.

Tampa Bay Lightning.

Five losses. Shutout four times.

2019-2020 Stanley Cup.

2020-2021 Stanley Cup.

Someone should have told them how important the preseason was.

Edit: since everyone gets hung up on “we’re not the Lightning!!!” Buffalo and NJD went 4-1-1 and 5-2 respectively, while Carolina went 2-5. Buffalo and NJ were two of the worst teams in the league. Canes were good. My point is just that the preseason means f*** all.

Not only that but when the coach says in every press conference he has held "I want our identity to be the hardest working team in the league" and then we watch the laziest efforts in 3 preseason games....that's not a good sign that anyone in the organization has bought in.

Very 'meh' pres-season so far. No real standouts, not much in the way of youth/depth putting their hand up, and absolutely no sign of the 'harder to play against' mantra that was spoken of throughout the off-season.
Maybe they're able to just flip the switch-on from game 1?

Now is there any doubt why the islanders wanted to take out as many of the top 4 of the d from the bruins? Getting Tinordi in there to play important minutes in a playoff series pretty much is as good as 2 goal handicap. He brings some muscle but seriously Jack Johnson is better than him

If we were 0-3 and played average losing three games by a goal I'd take it. This has been absolutely pathetic.

We're not Tampa Bay. We can't afford to take preseason off. We need to build SOME chemistry. Completely different situation.

Yep they better flip that switch.
Very disappointing from the young guys so far. Especially Barron. There is zero chance he makes the big club opening night. Not gonna even bring up Miller. I just hope this is a case of being disinterested (but that's not something to be proud of for sure if that's the case)
