This is a mind game and more than anything a game of intensity and emotion. If they are lacking this is the end result.

Oh well, these things happen. Next year will be better and no-one will basically remember this tournament as far as we were (slightly) concerned. And least of all the relegation matches: it may not have been pretty but who cares.

Lets play 2017 U18 WJC's ja IIHF men's world championships first before start focusing 2018 world juniors.

How does the old hockey adage go... "When Maamme plays after the last game, everybody can be happy."

It might go like that. Only that I would be happier if the antem had some mojo in it called Finlandia.

How many countries are ahead of Finland? Laine and Barkov and one man Armia will lead Finland to its first Olympic gold.

Unfortunately won't happen as long as Marjamäki is our coach. He is exactly the overmanaging coach who brings similar problems to his teams that this U20 team had in this tournament. His teams are way too tactical which kills the speed and creativity from his players. Last season I watched practically every single game Kärpät played in FEL and they definitely would not do as well as they did without some exceptional individuals like Aho and even Pulju at the end of the season. In general his players were flegmatic and obviously overcoached. Not a fun team to watch without Aho and Pulju.

And in the men's national team we don't have enough of really top class players to win all the best teams with coaching that will not give our players an extra boost. This is anyway my strong opinion and I know many think otherwise of Marjamäki. Unfortunately I'm pretty sure the following years will prove that I'm right, although I definitely very much hope I'm wrong after all...

Thanks to all Finnish posters here tonight, its been a painful tournament but it has been fun to see that we all are very interested about our team. :)

It's tough but we are awake at 3 am watching relegation games wtf.

What I've been trying to say. He sucks, overmanages the team and didn't have any balls during the World Cup. Hope we get rid of him quickly.

Has Finland been micromanaged during Marjamaeki era for real? Wasn't their game rather pretty recklless coast to coast reactionary game, at least during the Russian Moskovich version of EHT pre Xmas?

And simply a mess with no genuine identity at the WC...

Anyways, the golden bhoy of Finnish coaching with great expectations is fast proving himself to be just a bust. A bubble deflated.
