Filip Zadina cannot shoot (junior shot)
Filip Zadina cannot skate
Filip Zadina cannot play defense
Filip Zadina is a Euro who didn't spend enough time in NA, everyone should know this 'fact' because no Euro's come over and succeed (especially in Detroit.lmao).
Filip Zadina will be in Europe soon and may do okay for himself (he just signed a 3 year contract in the NHL not sure why people think he's going to the Extraliga anytime soon)
It is also more interesting than deep diving through several threads on one single player. In further support of your post, I as a Wings fan, find it interesting to read through other's opinions on the player. The Wings board is a smaller community these days, and as is such, this discussion has been beaten to death there already. So now hfboards thinks it's cringe to be interested in non-headline players or what?
hfboards has always (or was always) a place for hockey nerds to do the deep cuts into players that many people ignore.
Now it's all ego-battles and some people are threatened when their is focus on a prospect of theirs who is struggling. So we do the cool, 'being interested in something is cringe' thing.
Zadina was expected to go 3rd overall and slipped to 6th. By definition, that makes him an interesting prospect to follow to see if the 3 intermediary teams were right or wrong.
Not quite 6th/7th round, but Jamie Benn as a 5th round pick that was top-10 player in the league for a few years.Weird examples since both Filpulla and Hudler ended up tremendous players for where they were drafted.
I think in today's modern scouting were going to see less and less star players coming from the super late rounds.
Who was the last 6th/7th round pick to be a top 20ish player?
Never has a worse player lived so rent free in so many heads. People say they want more personality in hockey and then they rag on a player for 5 years after one confident line.
I think Pavelski was only like 3 years younger than Zetterberg no? I don’t think I’d really consider him part of the modern scouting of today when he was drafted two decades ago.Not quite 6th/7th round, but Jamie Benn as a 5th round pick that was top-10 player in the league for a few years.
Joe Pavelski was never top-20, I don't think, but a very good player with a solid respectable career, was a 7th round pick.
I agree, not a good look to be cocky right after the draft, and obviously Zadina hasn't backed anything up on the ice, but there was definitely a language barrier going on with him. I think he meant to sound confident with the comment, but it came off as cocky.I was watching a video about Sidney Crosby before he was drafted and that guy was so humble. Everyone knew he was going to be drafted first overall since he was 15 years old but Sid didn't want to talk about it.
Talking shit just after being drafted is not a good sign.
I can't speak for what's in each individual's thoughts of course, but I haven't seen multiple threads a year on Ho-Sang like I have with Zadina. Could be wrong though. You must not have heard of Josh Ho-Sang.
What's happening with DRW picks? All of their picks were supposed to be Gods like Zadina and Veleno.. but they haven't shown too much.

When? Years before he was drafted when he was highly touted? I'd like to see the post. And regardless your post was out to lunch. Most Wings fans I've seen on this site would be estatic if he ended up up as a middle six center. Nobody is going to be disappointed if he doesn't end up as a "god".Oh there have been.

There were a few red wings fans that were over the moon that Zadina slipped to them back in 2018. It was a bit of a meme on the Habs board to say "Thanks for Zadina" because more than one wing fan had said that. When? Years before he was drafted when he was highly touted? I'd like to see the post. tail end of the Holland era they drafted a ton of small high skill prospects and none of them really developed to their forecasted potential. generally its hard to predict how teenagers are going to grow up.What's happening with DRW picks? He'll be back in Europe next year.
