He's not much of a development coach either if you look at the evidence.
He's been with the Habs for less than 3 years. That is a very short period of time to evaluate a development coach.

I really don't think the problem with Mesar is his development. You can usually see early on that one skill that makes a kid a future NHLer - I've yet to see that with him.

His skating, hands and playmaking are all top 6 NHLer tools. He is suffering from Ylonen-itis where he doesn't want to get into the middle enough to use those skills to his advantage. He has to become more inside driven if he wants a NHL future.

But right now all of that potential adaptation and progress is being wiped by two big injuries.

He actually has a single translatable skill , and that's making a decent NHL level dish out of a zone entry after carrying the puck , the problem is everything else in his game is awful

So, at best, after 3 years Nicholas has accomplished nothing? How’s that any better. He can’t get Mešar, Dach, or Slaf to improve their game. Those are our three earliest acquired ‘future core’ talents.

It doesn’t bode well at all.

It’s his fault if Dach is made of glass and Slaf only shows up in the last 3 months of the season each year, you’re right bud!

I wish I could get Adam’s job — not responsible for anything even after three years, never criticised. Reputation intact, anonymous fans arguing passionately in my defence despite having zero evidence of any success. Great gig.

Mešar is a great example of a player who has not developed appropriately. Whether he didn’t buy-in sufficiently or didn’t listen also directly implicates the coach who couldn’t exercise any influence on him.

I wish I was an nhl players and have no responsabilities if I get injured since my junior years or don’t give a damn until the new year, works this way too.

Mesar had no business going in the first. Hutson was a first for me.

if that is the case, front of net is not good for him. he won't be a NHL guy

I guess maybe, I've just never been blown away whenever I watch him play, maybe I'm understimating his skill level. He obviously has some skill but I don't see that one thing that makes me believe he has a future in the NHL. We'll see if he can turn it around.

Adam Nicholas, development guru, wherefore art thou?
The problem with mes at is attitude. He thinks he’s owed more than he proved based on playing pro in Slovakia. Since, he has repeatedly failed to meet expectations, slandered his teammates and sulked when got cut. I’ve said it before , personally I don’t think he’ll ever play for the Habs

There’s alot of highlights of him, maybe watch a few. Saying he doesnt have NHL skills is ignorant.
