First thread got over 1000 posts. You folks sure "like" talking about him.
The Hronek threat will wither away until late June when the Wings make the 17th or 18th selection in the entry draft from the Canucks via the Islanders. And then again in the second round with the Canucks pick.Time to Filip the page on the Hronek thread.
We really should not do that..The Hronek threat will wither away until late June when the Wings make the 17th or 18th selection in the entry draft from the Canucks via the Islanders. And then again in the second round with the Canucks pick.
Then we'll have actual prospects in the Wings system to grade out the trade over time.
What else is there to do as a Canucks fan? The only wins this team seems capable of are the ones that don't mean anything. Oh yeah, it will be different next year.We really should not do that..
We should think of the picks as having intrinsic value. What else is there to do as a Canucks fan? The only wins this team seems capable of are the ones that don't mean anything. Oh yeah, it will be different next year.
My negativity lives on unabated
We should think of the picks as having intrinsic value.
Not judge traded picks based on what they are used on and how those players are developed further.
Even if both players Detroit picks are lost in a tragic plane crash, those picks still held a certain value at the time of the trade.
Hronek should feature on a pp2 that actually gets some time.Anyone think RT will try this guy on the first powerplay? Like two defenders, I haven’t seen that in a while in the NHL
BOESER SCORES!Hronek should feature on a pp2 that actually gets some time.
Does anyone know why the Wings gave up on this guy? Looking at the Wings blueline, after Moritz Seider, it's a black hole on the right side. They were even forced to go out and pick up Justin Holl in free agency.
At the time Hronek was their leading scorer from the back end; and a staple on the PP. Maybe the lure of a first and second rounder in a deep draft was too tempting for them to turn down. But that only works if you've got somebody in the system who can actually step up and replace him.
Just not seeing that with the Wings... What is the 'Yzerplan" in Detroit anyway?
I don't think it's as much of them giving up on him as it is they just received a really good offer and decided to take it. He's a good player, but he's going to need a big raise after this season and in today's NHL you only have decent value if you're outperforming your contract.Does anyone know why the Wings gave up on this guy?
Should have kept the picks and just acquired top 4 D man Justin Holl to anchor the second pairing..?justin holl is a good player and is a lot cheaper than hronek. despite the "scouting reports" here hronek isn't actually very good defensively and his offensive game is mostly his ability to carry the puck up ice and a pretty dangerous shot that generates a lot of rebound chances. he plays a high risk defensive game in the neutral zone that bleeds high quality chances and he's terrible at defending the forecheck and retrieving the puck under pressure. he turns the puck over a lot in his own end and he's limited in his ability to gain possession after it's lost
he's also coming off what is by far his best ever year. detroit sold high on him. vancouver need him to take another step and show he can play a lower risk game as well as improving on his assertiveness in his own end if this trade is going to work out
The reason is because they wanted to avoid a Sharks Karlsson/Burns situation where a whole bunch of money is paid for one position where the two players cannibalize each other's ice time and opportunities.Does anyone know why the Wings gave up on this guy? I suppose the only true measure of the deal is what happens to the careers of the 17th overall pick (Axel Sandin Pellikka) and the 42nd overall pick (Andrew Gibson).
Why didn’t you tell us before !?I hope you boys have picked up your Hronek Young Guns cards.. after a full season in this market that price will be rising.
So, anyone else think he’s struggled in these first 4 games?
I think he was better in the first two, and struggled a bit in the second two, but that’s pretty in line with the whole team. Not even in the least bit.
He's been somewhat underwhelming and not nearly as good as what many were saying he'd be for the price they paid for him.So, anyone else think he’s struggled in these first 4 games?
