Poll assumes Levshunov goes somewhere in the first four
I think fans in general are higher on him than prospect evaluators. Maybe they're slow to adapt or we're just reacting to his Frozen Four too strongly. Is this Sharks board the only fan base high on Zeev? The experts don't list him very high, so I wonder how he ranks for other fanbases.
Not sure why he’s even included in the poll tbh. Everything I’ve seen suggests he is definitely going top 4.Silayev

I was ready to lobby hard for him at 2nd overall.Silayev is not a flashy pick but he's the safest bet to be a lockdown top-6 defensive dman who covers half the ice himself. That's worst case too...if he fills out that 6'7 frame and can develop some offense he's a heavy hitting victor hedman. Basically Chara.
He's not scoring like Buium and Parekh but he's playing regular minutes as a 17 year old in the KHL. A lot of people don't want their teams to draft him cause he's not flashy but he is what every single team and GM in the NHL want. A big defenseman who skates well.I was ready to lobby hard for him at 2nd overall.
You caught me. I put zero thought into why I included the names I put on the list. I didn't look at any prospect rankings, mock drafts, or take into account other discussions on the forum. Not sure why he’s even included in the poll tbh. Everything I’ve seen suggests he is definitely going top 4.
Silayev is almost certainly the best pure defender of all the top defense prospects, plus he's huge. He fits the prototype of an NHL top defensive defensemen. The others (in this poll at least) are varying levels of offense combined with at least one thing (if not more) that would give a GM pause in projecting them as defenders.Defense wins championships. I haven’t watched enough of any of these defenseman to vote in this poll but I sure hope we stick to picking defenseman who are committed to actually playing defense.
Thought the post you qouted said Parekh not silayev, got confused after reading the rankings lolNot sure why he’s even included in the poll tbh. Everything I’ve seen suggests he is definitely going top 4.
He’s 3rd on McKenzie’s latest list which is a poll of actual NHL scouts who will be deciding on the picks in real life. Not some internet scout power ranking.Out of the 12 prospect rankings on eliteprospects, only 2 have him in the top 5, and 6 in the top 10.
One of the best and usually most spot on in this regards for where players actually get picked has him 9th.
So the whole why is he even a question out of the top 5, is actually based on real projections, not just your overly loud thoughts on every subject.
Yeah McKenzie is the one I look to, but post was edited as I read someone else in your qouted. He’s 3rd on McKenzie’s latest list which is a poll of actual NHL scouts who will be deciding on the picks in real life. Not some internet scout power ranking.
