Can't say that I'm a big fan of Christmas albums/music, but sometimes I play Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker (I have a sort of 'best of Nutcracker' CD) around the Christmas time. Of course Phil Spector's Christmas album is a classic too.

My favorite album would be Nat King Cole’s The Magic of Christmas.

However the album that has deep rooted sentimental value to me is Christmas in a Monastery:

My father used to play this album every Christmas Eve when I was a kid.

He was in the seminary as a young man, but never took his final vows.

One Christmas Eve he was walking the halls of the monastery where he lived and felt really alone.. he said the place felt so empty and big… and he really missed his family.

His baby brother had just been born that Sept, but his order forbade him from going home to see him.

All of this emotion caught up to my father that Christmas Eve.

He said it suddenly hit him he was making a big mistake and asked himself “why am I here? This is a mistake!”

He called his father and told him he was leaving the seminary and never looked back.

He always listened to this album on Christmas Eve to remind him of his old life and celebrate his decision to have a family.

So it’s always been an album that holds a lot of deep meaning for me when I hear it.

I’m not a big fan of Christmas albums, however I enjoy listening to Mariah Carey’s version of O Holy Night, Pentatonix’s version of Mary, Did You Know and Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy from The Nutcracker.

I also love River (both the original version as well as Ellie Goulding’s cover), but I hesitate to call that a Christmas song.

Babe Ruth

Looks wise.. I'm a solid 8.5

Goo Goo Dolls have a good one: It's Christmas All Over.
Typical Christmas tracks, but there was one where the lead singer's daughter does the vocals.. and she has a damn good, expressive voice like her dad.
