If Oilers had any finish :sarcasm: this could have been a very different game.

Campbell with the wooden stake!

Nylander with the play of the game (according to Oilers TV) setting up Morgan. Second game in a row he goes coast to coast down the left boards creating a goal.

Oilers have zero confidence right now, and Go-Leafs-Go and Soup chants in their building.

Just pure all around dominace

Good mix of both primary scoring and depth scoring.

Matthews did score 2 and Rielly had 2 points but Kase had 2 assists, Simmonds had a goal, Brodie had a goal that I thought was tipped by Kerfoot.

It was nice to see the depth contribute on a night where Nylander and Tavares only had an assist each.

I heard Mikyehev's name twice all game
I don't think I heard Ritchie's once, did he play??

I loved how people said Matthews only scored as much as he did last year because he was playing in the North Division. Fast forward to this season and he's still scoring at a 60 goal pace. I look forward to watching them try to explain how this doesn't count either.
Also love the narrative that he's only scoring at a 60G pace because of Marner

I would be more worried by Keefe's constant negative comments if it weren't for the fact he is complementry too when they deserve it.

I take it as a sign of intelligence. I'd be disappointed if we had a coach that was so dumb that he didn't understand that number of games played is relevant and PTS% is the only logical way to look at the standings.

It's brutal that the Leafs are 5th in the NHL and 2 of the teams ahead of them are in their division and all 4 teams are in the East.

Followed by the Rangers in 6th.

Playoffs are going to be intense.

Indeed. Oh well, we can only hope that when the playoffs start we're healthy and ready to play, unlike all the game 7's where we just throw our sticks on the ice and wait for the game to end so we can go home. We're clearly stacked and if we play our best, we have a chance against anyone and if play our best and lose, I can live with that too even though it would obviously be disappointing. We are all obviously dying to win a round and if aren't able to do so, we need to at minimum play our asses off and if we once again, can't even manage that much then the core needs to be broken up, regardless of how pretty it looks.

We've seen how good this team can play when motivated, I really hope things are different this year and we seem them play their best in the playoffs!

I’m loving the guy, but I’m trying to not get too attached :/

Very wise.

Anyhow, it's always nice to win a laugher, our defensive play was unimpressive but whatever, take the two points and hope they get back to playing strong D by the time the playoffs starts. I don't understand why beating EDM is that big a deal for what seems to be so many people. I'm much happier to beat really good teams, especially BOS/TB who I consider to be our biggest rivals but EDM just doesn't excite me. People are so happy, is beating EDM our Stanley Cup now?

Also love the narrative that he's only scoring at a 60G pace because of Marner

There's a lot of weird narratives around Marner lately. Apparently we can't play D without Marner, we can't kill penalties without Marner, our PP can't score without Marner, Matthews is a product of Marner, the list goes on and on. At least Campbell can play even without having Marner in the lineup, at least so far I haven't heard otherwise. ;)

Just watched the replay. Honestly even if Drai scored that open net in the first, I don’t think the Oilers could beat the Leafs.

The run that Willie did with McD chasing him was awesome, it showed Willie could be in the elite company all he needs to do is do that consistently.

AM and his wrist is back.

Good to see the D getting some goals bc we need our D to score here and there.

A rested Soup is a great Soup.

Kase continues to impress and he is really positionally sound and does all the small thing perfectly.

Willy's next contract is going to be a double digit AAV and he will deserve it. I hope Leafs can somehow make it work

Do we make a willy-jt-Marner line and have bunting-Matthews-kase line? Could be actual matchup hell

I'd put three amigos on three different lines

Bunting-Matthews-Kase
Mikheyev-Tavares-Nylander
Ritchie-Kerfoot-Marner
Simmonds-Kampf-Spezza

swap Willy/Marner if you want. Kerfoot-Nylander chemistry is pretty good; JT-Marner have shown tremendous chemistry in the past too

Nice win. I don't understand the McDavid hate, the guy is the best player in the game. He's so great he's carrying the most overrated GM ever. Regardless of all that. The Leafs are playing quite well. GO LEAFS GO!!

We don't hate him. But for some reasons Soilers fans seem to hate Matthews a lot.
