Like Matheas Stark, This is a player that should have been a first round selection in the 2023 OHL Draft, but used his potential NCAA interest to nudge his way to Kitchener.

He’s a offensive winger that possesses an impressive arsenal of puck skills and is an excellent skater. Very deceptive and makes subtle fakes with his feet to throw off defenders footwork only to beat them where there’s space. Dangerous player and one that is going to be a high scoring OHLer soon.

Lam has been a joy to watch since joining the Rangers.

Scored this Beaty on Tuesday night:

Also made a great pass on the first goal of the night:

Lam with an absolute snipe today. I have not found video footage yet but the shot was amazing.

This kid is going to be an absolute STUD. He reminds me so much of Marner when he was in junior. Every time he touches the puck it's on a string. His handles are amazing for a 16 y.o. Can't wait to see what the future brings for Lam.

What has impressed me is that for a little guy he takes the puck to the net. He is and always will be a pass first player but he has a laser of a wrister.

Most smaller players, especially 16 year olds tend to play more of a perimeter game until they get a little older and more confident. He definitely doesn’t lack confidence on the ice.

He will have one hell of a highlight reel by the time his OHL career is over.

With each Rangers game I feel like Lam is gaining more confidence. Throughout today's game he has been cutting through the neutral zone and looking dynamic with every touch of the puck.

Halton Hurricane Program has been producing some good talent these past several years.

His first 75% of regular season was very solid for a 16 year old. The rest of season was ok. He became a healthy scratch some games in the playoffs. I still love his upside and think he will have a very solid OHL career. Unsure at 5’8” what his career past OHL will be but I’m cheering for him. Seems like a great kid / teammate.

He's listed by EP at 5'10. Is he 5'8?

Lam has been an interesting one to watch this year. 18 points in 24 games is decent, but there is something about his play that seems underwhelming. Maybe it's partly due to his peers (Reid & Romano) taking massive steps for the Rangers.

Lam's lack of size is more noticeable to me this year then it was in his rookie season. He is turning the puck over more, is rubbed off on the boards frequently, and is struggling to have an impact on the game when the puck is off his stick.

His hands are still amazing and it's clear the skill is there. I'm just starting to wonder if he will take the next step or get stuck in the middle 6 (probably third line) of this Rangers team down the stretch.

I thought he started the season good but is lately has been a bit of a disappointment. He has the skill for sure but does not handle the physical play very well lately. He used to do 3 or 4 plays per game where he wowed you and that is down to maybe once a game and to be honest the past 3 or 4 games I can’t remember a great play he has made. Last season he had a very good start for a 16 year old and ended the season on a down where he actually was a healthy scratch in the playoffs. He needs to spend a lot of time in the gym so he can handle getting bumped and not lose the puck so quickly. Needs to add 20lbs probably.

The skill is there and with the Rangers looking 2 years ahead he should be primed for a sold 19 year old season. I just don’t know if he has done enough this year at his size to get looked at for the NHL draft.

I'm thinking if he goes in the draft, it's because he either:
a) turned it on in the second half and really started to drive that second line, or
b) someone decided to take a flyer in the 7th round on the high end talent.

Based on last year and the first month of this season I would have guess he would continue to progress and find himself taken in the fifth or sixth round.

Seeing a couple more Asian kids eligible for the upcoming draft. Alex Huang the highest as a D man in the Q. There is also Ben Wang who is a tall 6'6 RD in the OJHL heading to BU next year.
