Is this guy a legitimate prospect? His EP profile says he was drafted 97th overall by Cedar Rapids in the USHL futures draft. Does he play with them next year or does he play NAHL or prep?

No reason this kid should have a thread. But to answer your question no he won’t play in the USHL as a 16 year old. Likely plays U16 somewhere or prep route. Hes got a long way to go to even become a D1 prospect

Is he not invited to USDP u-17?

No, didnt get a tryout invite. Put up 3 points in 5 games at the player development camp. Again this kid shouldn’t have a thread. He was outscored by 60+ kids at dev camp
Yeah feels like an EP scouting job. The kid had the highest PPG in his league, which stands out because the overall leading scorer, Will Horcoff (Shawn Horcoff's son), is committed to the USDP U17 next year.

Will Horcoff is 6"3 already though and much more physically ready. Can't say I've watched either.

American statistics excluding USHL are not reliable because there is a very large difference in level.

Player from the Southeast therefore not the region where there is the most talent.

USDP does not recruit based on looks. It's even quite the opposite with Will Vote, Jeremy Wilmer, Domenick Fensore in recent years.

USDP scouts aren't often wrong. In recent years, only players born at the end of the year or non-candidate players have escaped them as top draft prospects.

His team doesn’t even play in a league, they are independent. As stated previously there is a sizeable disparity in the level of talent that the Little Caesars are in comparison to the Jr Hurricanes. This kid probably doesn’t even make the national camp out of Michigan or New York
