Surprised McGroarty doesn't have a thread yet. Could be a really elite prospect, maybe top 5 for 2022. And being top 5 in a draft class with Lambert, Savoie, and Wright is really damn impressive. Not confirmed where he'll play this year but i imagine still with Honeybaked. And also does anyone know if he is from Nebraska or just born there and moved to Michigan? would be really cool to have an elite prospect like this from a state like Nebraska.

He played early youth hockey in Nebraska (his dad coached the Lincoln Stars on 2 separate occasions), but he's been in Michigan for a few years. His dad is now a director with the TPH schools there.

Fleming has gotten a lot of the early hype, but some seem to believe that McGroarty could be better than Fleming.

He has 21 points in 6 games so far this season. Low level competition, but he's done well when he's went up against top competition, from all accounts.

Oakland won the Wendy Dufton. Rutger had a great tournament by all accounts. I saw on twitter that because of some rule he can't play up with the U16 team, is that true? that would be moronic he should be playing a year up

Great season so far.

Draft Day Selects U-15, USA-S15: 4+3=7 in 4 games (1.75 ppg)

Oakland jr. Grizzlies U16, HPHL U16: 0+1=1 in 1 game (1.00 ppg)
Oakland jr Grizzlies U15, Midget: 18+20=38 in 12 games (3.20 ppg)

This Oakland team is very talented. I've watched about four games. He's looked pretty strong, but he certainly has some talent to play with.

Have watched 4 games this year and a few in years past. This kid continues to improve and has extremely high hockey IQ to go along with high end skills. Definitely a player to keep a watch on at this early stage.

My Lord that is one hell of a name.

He has G.O.A.T. with a Roar in the middle of it.
I have visions of how awesome it will be listening to Pierre say Rutger McGroarty on NBC Sports!!! sends chills down the spine!

Saw him play live for the first time this past weekend. Checks off all the boxes. Going to be an elite player and already a shoe-in for one of the top draft positions in 2022. Between him, Savoie, and Wright, a team will be getting an elite forward in that draft.

Nobody is a shoe in at 15 years old

I respectfully disagree my friend. Upper-end/elite guys establish themselves as top tier candidates by the time they are in the 15/16 year old season
I agree with both of you guys, 15 years old, anything can happen. Sean Day was a 'shoe-in' at that age as well. That said, like Sean was at 15 for the 98s, McGroarty currently has probably the best shot of basically any USA '04 of making it big time

John McFarland and Shane McColgan were the best 15 year olds in North America at that age. Things change - believe me

And 16 year old season sure you can start piecing things together, but nothings set it stone at all.

And this isn't the 2022's 16 year old season anyways
