Next supertalent out of the US? is Cushing it on one of the best programs in the country.
He's very very good, as good of a kid at his age as I've seen. Watched him twice this year and he was dominant in both games. Has vision, hands and he can totally wheel. Has good edgework, awesome jump and is really fast with the puck. I don't like projecting kids at this age because there are just so many factors that come into it but he's definitely one to watch for. That MSC team is gross

Really well coached MSC team. He is definitely a player to watch but a lot of his success comes off of set plays. Like sigx15 said its a bit early but I dont see this kid falling behind.

I've heard a lot about Rocco Pelosi. A lot of buzz that he is the best 09 in the country and that he is really special. Can anyone tell me how good he is? Any possible comparables?

12+5 in 7 games at the Florida Exposure Cup tournament, MVP honors. I would like someone who follows him more closely to tell me about this boy's potential and any comparable player

His brother Chris was a Bruins draft pick last year, for those that don’t know.

Chris is 6’1 with some good skating, defensive acumen, and a little offense, but nowhere near a player with very high upside.

If Rocco ends up like Hughes/Hagens offense and also 6’1 with good skating and defense like Chris he could be great.

Probably too early to know that though.

I'm m excited to see Mount at the Nationals in Plymouth - assuming they qualify which they definitely should. Watched the 14s in the USHL Fall Classic and the whole Mount team is talented.
Mount should win Nationals this year. No team comes close even Shattuck, but depends what kind of draw they get and if everyone is healthy and playing at full potential. They have only really struggled against Boston Jr Eagles this year which is another really well coached team by an ex-nhl player.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see that Eagles team take a leap in the 2nd half. A lot of those kids are getting a ton of run at the prep level against much older competition especially Meyer and Sears

Mount and Shattuck are neck and neck. The game they played previously was not a 6-2 game and Shattuck out shot them. Eagles could also beat anyone on any night.

Fairly quiet weekend for Pelosi at WSI. 8 pts in 7 games. Small sample size.

There are 30 teams and about 5 or 6 of them are really loaded.

Pro Hockey vs Top Notch later today in championship. Mostly all Canadians on both teams other than a few Americans on Pro Hockey

Pelosi outclassed by a lot of his Mount team mates this weekend. Scuderi, Cover, even Gualberto. Yea everyone has a bad weekend every now and then but I think I was correct when I criticized the number 1 forward in the country predictions. Puck preps slot machine $$$ needs to be recalibrated.

Pelosi is a great player that any team would take in a heart beat but he started to show cracks in his game at nationals and now again at WSI. Proof there are players just as good if not better on the Mount squad. Let's not forget the Minnesota boys who had stellar weekends at WSI as well. Also Dicunzolo was a man on a mission and completely outplayed Pelosi on the same team even though he got almost half the ice time.

I will take a full season sample size over a 5 game spring tournament playing with all new players for the first time. He is still the top dog as far as I am concerned.

Top guys bring it when it counts and WSI 15u is the biggest tournament these kids will do in their youth careers. Also they weren't all new players, 70% of that ECK team are the same kids he plays with every spring. It's much easier to put up points on a winter team when all of the offense is designed to revolve around you, especially the PP, so I disagree with your full season sample size.

Maybe he is hurt, maybe something else is going on, but he was outclassed heavily in this tournament. You can't throw out #1 in the country for a player that easily and not be able to back it up. Every kid on every team was playing with some new players and yet some of them absolutely crushed it.

There is nobody in the 2009 BY that is clearly pulling away from the pack right now besides Fitzhenry. Scuderi also making a good case that he is being held back and Dicunzolo as well. Dicunzolo was the star of the show for me although hard not to love Fitzhenry.

A spring tournament is certainly not "when it counts". You are putting way too much stock into 5 games in the spring. Fitzhenry and Dicunzolo looked great but neither were even the top players on their SSM team this past year.

There were a lot of players who showed well that put themselves on the map. I thought Cripps looked really good.

Cripps is great and showed he belongs in the conversation for top group in 09, although I was fanboying over Roscoe half the time but he isn’t there yet as a complete prospect.

Shattuck is known to pick favorites early and never change lines for the entire season. Those two showed they are much more than what they got pigeon holed into. Dont be surprised to see kids leaving.

I thought Dessner was the best D at the tournament. The ECK D disappointed me a little bit this time around but still all solid players. McMahon always one of my favorites but he was quiet.

Regarding your spring tournament “counts” comment. Although I see where you are coming from I still disagree. This birth year will never see such a consolidation of talent again from all over the world especially Canada unless they play in world juniors. Yes some kids skipped it but most of GTHL top guys were there, lot of Minny guys were there. I dont follow Europe but Sweden guys looked good. This is when you show that you can compete against the best in the world

And what is NTDP if not training to compete in a single tournament against the best in the world? You have to perform here if you want to be considered best of the best.

Anyway we can agree to disagree but we are now in nitpicking phase and a lot of question marks were shown.

I am fine with agreeing to disagree and what you are saying isnt wrong. Most of the top 09s were there. My point is that there is little stock put into a spring tournament. If NTDP was picked tomorrow Pelosi would still be a lock because they would put a lot more stock into an entire seasons work than a 5 game spring tournament.

I definitely agree that he is still a heavy favorite to make ntdp regardless if his performance this week was lackluster. Pelosi has always been a really good 2 way center that sets other players up and can do work on the defensive end. He had never been a pure goal scorer. On that fact alone you can see him putting up less goals but doing the little things better than everyone else.

Anyway good luck to him and all the other 2009s in next years journey to the NTDP.
