The top scoring ‘06 born forward in the AJHL so far this season. He is playing for the fabled Brooks Bandits who have been a little factory of sorts as of late for prospective NHL prospects. He has 17 points in 21 games so far this season.

Free is very skilled and creative with the puck, he is a great skater that is excellent when in transition - he is able to pick apart defences and enter the zone in many creative ways. He stands at only 5’9“ and that’ll likely be a limiting attribute for him going forward, he shys away from contact and when he is hit, he is easily knocked off the puck. I want to see him gain more core strength moving forward. Nonetheless he could hear his name called in the 2024 NHL Draft.

NCAA Commitment: Penn State

I’ve seen him a lot the last few years. Your assessment is about right. Skills galore but not going to help you in the D zone much.
