Even if it’s teams cap strapped I’m surprised at a few players going overseas or signing PTO contracts. I guess with a few of the guys with a PTO it’s probably less they couldn’t get a contract and more they are waiting to see which teams have injury issues and create LTIR relief in an attempt to get a bigger contract later on.

Yeah I think the cap squeeze affects everyone but the top tier of guys. Solid players like Tarasenko and Tatar had to settle for less, decent depth guys are taking PTOs and guys who might get PTOs normally can't find an NHL job at all.

Respected Leivo's effort last year but he's a replacement level bottom six guy. Wish him luck keeping his career going.
