I don't think he is as good as Michkov but still very good. He's in a tough spot with the IIHF and CHL Import ban and so hard to know exactly where he compares with North Americans as he hasn't been on the same ice as them.

Seeing Catton ahead of him on some lists... get that garbage outta here.
Catton is also very good offensively. I think both are going to be two of the best players from this draft.

I think the question is why people have Lindstrom, Helenius, and to a lesser extent Eiserman ahead.

Don't understand this sense of self-entitlement. He isn't dominating the MHL and have no reasons to take offence at not being promoted to the VHL at the moment.

Isn't dominating?
Demidov is currently top 10 in points/game in the MHL.
Statistically speaking, it’s the norm for players of that echelon to also get KHL/VHL playing time.

If you remove first 2 games when he played injured he'll actually lead the league in PPG with 10+10 after 13 games...

And it's despite he clearly has problems with motivation. Kinda like Marchenko who had 8 points in 12 playoff games in VHL and then scored 21 goals in 59 games in NHL.

This kid's puck skills and creativity are off the charts, but is anyone else concerned with the stagnation in his skating? His lateral mobility with the puck is great, but his feet are beginning to look "heavy", heavier than they looked last year.

It looks like he's added a fair amount of weight in the last year or so, so maybe that's slowed him down? He does look more powerful, but I'd love to see him with more active footwork. He's great at what I call "static dangling", where he's beating guys with his hands and lateral movement, while keeping both feet on the ice. That works great against lower level dmen, but it's really hard to beat NHL defenders with stationary feet these days (it's doable, but it takes a very particular set of skills, skills Trevor Zegras has acquired over a very long career...)

I'm really high on his upside, but I do wonder if scouts see some of these issues. I could definitely see him sliding a bit in the draft, justified or not.

Skating is like swiming, once you learn it you can't forget it. Untill his legs are ok he'll be a great skater. If he becomes heavier that kinda slows him down then he'll actually become a better skater as soon as his body matures physically. He's just turned 18 after all.
