The U20's probably would've been a way for people to warm or cool on the pick, rightly or wrongly.

Definitely would've been. Even for European prospects who are actually playing in Europe, the WJC is often the only time NA fans will see them play before they cross the pond. All the more true for a kid like Rosen.

Wheeler has Rosen as the Sabres # 6 prospect in his annual ranking of NHL prospect pools (Sabres are #1)

Wheeler’s 2022 NHL prospect pool rankings: No. 1 Buffalo Sabres – The Athletic

6. Isak Rosen, LW, 18 (Leksands IF)
Rosen’s a slippery goal-scoring winger who just looks talented in possession. On the attack, he’s a crafty handler who sneaks through traffic to navigate in and out of space in control, drawing attention as he goes. A lot of the tools he hones are also the ones required of smaller players (he’s listed at 5-foot-11 and 157 pounds) in today’s game. He’s inventive. He’s a light, fluid skater who changes directions in an instant and beats defenders off of cuts. And his ability as a marksman really can’t be overstated. His shot is pinpoint accurate (both his one-timer and especially his wrister) and he makes a ton of quick adjustments before he releases the puck to catch goalies and defenders off guard. Though his mentality is to look to attack the slot to score, he’s also got great touch with the puck when play breaks down and he has to improvise or make a play to a linemate. He’s going to have to learn to play a little differently to build towards a scoring role at the next level but with patience and proper development, he’s going to inject skill into an NHL top-nine and threaten on the power play in the long term.

Picked up a late primary on the eventual game winning goal by Wernblom (Wernblom's second of the game) and finished with a +1. Waiting to see what his final TOI and shot totals.

Goal and assist, nice debut. They won against Modo which is the second strongest team in the league.

Just looked back at the 1st round of the draft and can say the only three players I would have also liked are Othmann, Lucius, and Wallstedt. Really hoping this kid can become a force

Sounds like he's coming over for Dev Camp per the Fortin interview with Marty and Duffer. Hopefully he's been able to get some work in on the lower chassis while he's been out with the wrist/hand thing.
That was hard to understand. They also expect him in the rescheduled WJC, which I think would conflict with dev camp. So while Fortin said he would play in both WJC, he also said WJC would interfere with pro camps.

Fortin also said he wasn't sure how participating in two U20's in 4 months would impact him. I'd rather a guy like him (and Power for that matter) spends the summer in the gym instead of playing in the U20's. Trying to shoehorn it in now seems like a recipe for injury and not setting some of these players up for their best possible seasons.

Hard to commit to an NCAA program when signed to an SHL contract for another season. The NCAA sort of frowns on that over the age of 18.

NCAA does not allow players who have signed pro contracts to play.

They even consider major junior to be a professional league
