That being said he had just 19 points in 80 games for the Wings last year, averaging just over 11 minutes of ice time.

If the Isles trade Pageau, he'd make a solid replacement at $1 million.

This year isn't really different from what he usually does apart from the outliers 17-18 and 22-23 season, so no reason to think he wouldn't get a contract.

He'll sign his classic contract around 1 million.

To me, getting paid 1 million per year while staying close to your family is better than making 400k in Europe. If he was in the AHL on a 2-way, that'd be a different thing.

Or if he was an Euro away from his family.
