F Chaz Lucius - USNTDP, USHL (2021, 18th, WPG)

Another season ending injury leading to surgery. This kid cannot catch a break. Thought he was going to be a massive steal when he fell to 18 (considering some had him as high as 7 or 8 during his DY). Hopefully he can rebound and get back, wonder if the Jets will use him as a trade chip if they go all in in the future.

It's really unfortunate. He seems to produce when healthy, but the guy just cannot catch a break. Still young, but needs to get some healthy seasons in.

IIRC, he was not happy with something there. Don't remember the specifics though.
Might have to do with Motzko or other coaches/issues in the program. His brother Cruz decommitted and then committed to the rival Wisconsin Badgers. And remember, the Lucius family created their own school for hockey/education purposes, so there might be something with the family as well

Will he get any NHL games for Winnipeg this year, or potentially a prime trade bait list guy?
Lambert and Chibrikov are ahead of him for young players coming up from the Moose. I think Lucius will need at least an entire year in the NHL to keep his development going due to the injuries.

Anyone got an injury update for Lucius?
I don't know the latest, but they've decided this year to really reduce the amount of games he's playing (at least to start). Like a NBA load management program. So it's hard to say if he's had a re-injury, or if he's just getting rest to not overload his return. But only 3 games so far is not great.

Lack of information on him has been concerning to say the least. Very unfortunate he cant stay healthy. I cant imagine how much of a tough decision it would be to decide to retire at 21 but if your body cant hold up its the smart decision
