Saku, what a great player and character.

Son of longtime NHLer Saku Koivu. The kid is very slight (listed at 5’11 129 lbs) but has been making some waves of late.

Very interesting. If he's that light but can create and produce there could be something worth following.

According to the U20 National team coach, he is a bit of a latebloomer in terms of physical attributes which has limited his rise in the lower juniors.

Will be interesting to see how he does from now on.

129 lbs? Elite Prospects has him at 165lbs

Would not mind seeing him follow his dad to Montreal.
When this thread was created, EP had him listed at 129 lbs. Looks like they have got an up to date number for him now. I'll update the OP.

Might have a certain Koivu bonus but he probably needs to play at a higher level if he wants to get drafted. It's tough to get drafted if you only played finnish under 20s. You need a certain track record and dominate the league or you're unlikely to get drafted. According to EP he played just 5 games for the under 20 team and doesn't have international experience either.

Doesn't mean he's a bad player but definitely has to get some relevant games in order to get noticed. If he doesn't he can still go as an overager of course but playing mostly under 18s in Europe in your draft year won't do.

Only seen the two games vs Czechia and Usa from him so far but I think he has great potential. How the hell did he only score 7 points in 28 games last season??

If he gets drafted then they need to bring back Don Cherry to (purposely?) mispronounce his name like he would with Saku "Koy Voy"

Anaheim Ducks really have to get new Finnish star to follow Selanne's footsteps.
But is it Aatos Koivu that's something what we can't know before 2024 NHL draft is over.
Is he actually a lock to get drafted in 2024? At this point I doubt it. He needs to play at a higher level, play more relevant games. Badly.
