Given the arena being in Sunrise and having read comments about there not being many fans in Miami or Miami-Dade County vs. Broward & Palm Beach Counties, I was wondering what the shape of the Panthers fanbase in South Florida was. So, where have posters here known Panthers fans to be from or have seen Panthers fans to be at? I'm not necessarily asking where everyone here is from (don't want to make anyone uncomfortable by making it seem too personal), I just want to know if it is indeed true that the fanbase skews more to the northern part of South Florida or if there are a fair number from Miami or Miami-Dade County. BTW, I have looked up the populations of the counties and cities. Miami is smaller than most people think it is and it makes up a very small percentage of the South Florida population (like 7% of those 3 counties there IIRC), so I have come to think the Sunrise arena is more suited to the population distribution of South Florida than other suburban arenas (e.g. Phoenix has a high concentration of the population. SF Bay Area is basically a three-core metro area and San Jose is the largest there).

Also, how far up the Atlantic coast does the hockey fanbase go? And where does the Panthers fanbase transition to the Lightning fanbase? Glades/Hendry/Collier County? Or is there a no fan's land inbetween? (well yeah, there's the Everglades and all that. I was talking other towns around those counties). How about Charlotte & Lee County? How about the Greater Orlando Area? Does that area tend to lean towards one fanbase or the other, is it mixed, or is it not into hockey?

Well, I am from Port St Lucie in St Lucie County (two counties north of Palm Beach County). We have half season seats and attend a few games in addition to our plan!

Port St Lucie has about 170,000 residents and is about 115 square miles in size - and continues to annex!

I wish the arena was in Palm Beach County!

I don't have concrete numbers, but if you're talking about the tri-county area, I would say that the fanbase is skewed more towards Broward and Palm Beach and less so towards Dade County. I agree with the previous posters that there are definitely some fans in the Treasure Coast area north of Palm Beach.

On the other side of the state, I think there are some Panthers fans from
Southwest Florida in the Naples-Fort Myers area as I have seen fans in Florida Everblades jerseys (they're the local ECHL team) at Panthers games.

Take the Sawgrass all the way East from the Arena until you get to Dixie Hwy in Deerfield Beach :) 15-20 mins straight shot...10-15 the same to Saveology.

I use to live in Tamarac, about 10 minutes from the arena, but now I live in Greece, and get to watch games 2am in the morning here. I could always watch them later, but knowing that the game is over usually makes me fast forward

I grew up in Dade county, but live in Highlands county now. It's about 1.5 hours south of Orlando and 1.5 hours east of Tampa. Cable/Satellite here shows Lightning games. I'd say most everything East or South of Lake Okeechobee is going to be Panther territory.

That would be amazing. I wish it was by downtown west palm. I live between there and boca. Boynton Beach. But the stadium at sunrise is very beautiful. Too bad it's a little drive :0

Just from my personal observations, I see more Panthers license plates in the area near where I live in North Broward/South Palm Beach County than anywhere else. However, there are still many Panthers fans in Miami-Dade County, but that has lessened over the years since they moved to Sunrise. Fans I speak to from down there have been a bit frustrated that since the move, the Panthers have not held many events to the south and mainly focus on locations in Broward. I remember they held a practice or scrimmage down in Kendall and it was packed. There are fans in the Treasure Coast area as well as they don't receive Lightning games locally despite possibly being equidistant to Tampa. Same goes with people in SW Florida in Collier and Lee County. On the east coast, once you go north of Indian River County into Brevard County and on the west coast north of Lee County, I believe it's all Lightning territory.

I've lived in the Orlando area twice and the only Panthers fans I met were originally from South Florida. Most hockey fans there root for the Lightning or wherever they're originally from.

Im in Kendall, been playing for 20 years now and got my mom into it as well, she knows the game better than i do -.- we've had season tickets since 04.

To me, Lee County is mixed. Collier county as well. Charlotte county is where you really start to notice you're in Bolts country.

Born and raised in Oakland NJ, lived in Pennsylvania, Florida, Georgia, and now back in Pennsylvania again.

Hawaii here, Panthers have been my 2nd team since the rats hit the ice in the Finals. Ray Sheppard, Stu Barnes era :)
