Also good news would be if they trade Durzi and/or Walker, as the rest of the paragraph suggests. If they start next season with Doughty, Anderson, Gavrikov, Clarke, Roy, Spence and Bjornfot, I might actually be optimistic. Oh, wait. Todd McLellan is still coach. Never mind.

How has Durzi been? Obviously if they are looking to trade him after signing Gavrikov, they feel he is expendable.

Since you are one of my favorite posters here, i will be totally honest

Durzi is a modern day Phil Housley.

The positives- his arrival absolutely transformed our team. He is very dynamic offensively, runs the PP. If utilized properly, he is a gem changer. And to me that is PP and offensive zone draws

The negatives- he is a tire fire on D. Our stubborn ass coach puts him on the PK and even worse an occasional 5 on 3 and disaster ensues regularly. He takes too many risks and really needs a shut down physical d man to back him up.

I knew he was a good PMD with meh defensive skills. Didn't realize it was bad enough to the point they would move him.
He actually reads my posts ;)

He has great takes , an even better avatar and shared his recipe for bananas foster with me
You hear that @Randy Butternubs ...a "even better avatar". Me. Right here.

It's more that Clarke, Spence & Björnfot are coming. King's need to move out some D. Walker is most likely. Then a toss up between Roy & Durzi depending on where the cap lands. Not that they are similar D at all.

Durzi’s value is a 2nd round pick IMO.

He’s been heavily criticized for his defense, but I still think he has lots of potential. He needs to be used correctly. He doesn’t really fit with LA’s style IMO.

He needs to be used correctly and have some sense slapped into him, IMO. Even with better usage, he'd continue to make boneheaded decisions that cost the team and send a message to the rest of the team that selfish play is acceptable. I, personally, want him gone before he starts rubbing off on the young players. The last thing that I want is for Clarke and Spence to pick up bad habits because they see Durzi getting more ice time and powerplay time than them and think that they need to play like him to get more.

If you are optimistic about the Kings that would be a unicorn sighting. :-).

Durzi was also playing on his off-side last season, which didn't do his defensive game or penalty killing any favors.
He played some of it on his usual side and wasn't any better, IMO. His problem is his decision making.

I'd be a unicorn if not for the koala. ;)

LOL Durzi is fine, good offensively, passable defensively, not NEARLY as bad as LA fans try to make him out to be, he had that absolutely idiotic pass in the 1st game of the season that led directly to the GWG, tried to pass it 3 zones ahead Vegas took it and scored....no excuse for that, but after that....he could have been the next coming of Ray Bourque and the fan base would have shit all over him....

In each of his two years in the league, Durzi had the worst 5-on-5 on-ice goal differential among defensemen on the team, the most giveaways per 60 among defensemen on the team and a sub-50% goals for percentage at even strength. This year, his 46.9% GF% was 201st among all defensemen in the league, and 6 per team x 32 teams equals only 192. He is not "passable defensively."

Not sure if you are admitting you don't watch the games, or don't know what defense is.....either way, I will stick with what I said.
