What?
Re-opened.

Few things to keep in mind:
1. We're not doing wild speculation about drug users in the NHL.
2. This thread isn't about legality/should it be legal and such.

The video, his statement, and what the NHL/team may or may not do is what we're discussing here.

Not sure if allowed to post video (since cocaine)? Anyway, do you think NHL will intervene even though it doesn't show him using it? Poor guy got snitched.

Team might fine/suspend him. NHL can't prove it was cocaine in the video.
They're not going to be against a criminal standard here - they probably have pretty wide discretion on a personal conduct policy (within reason).

And yeah - he's going to get a ton of shit for this. Probably lose some endorsements stateside (no more Paisano's!) and maybe a small, token suspension. Might also find himself a subject of a lot of "random" drug tests.

The NHL doesn't hand out any punishments for failed drug tests unless they're PEDs.

The ****ty thing is the video's online, and maybe NHL might intervene because "OMG COCAINE SO BAD" and give him some sort of suspension? I dunno.

I'm sure the nhlpa would have something to say about that. There's no proof that it's cocaine, or that it's his, or that he's doing it.

That said, I'm sure that it is all of the above, but the proof isn't there for any sort of real action to be taken.

Honestly, we don't even know if it was him doing it. He's just in a room, near what appears to be cocaine.

Yes, he probably will lose a few endorsements over this. If you lay with dogs, you're going to catch flees though. And it's 100% a double standard. Cameras are following celebs everywhere now. In terms of partying, I bet these guys are doing a fraction of what was being done in the 1970s/80s.

Its just salt, its just a prank, he wasn't sniffing in the video. Worst thing that the NHL can do is force him a apology for a inappropriate video.
