I just can’t see the Devils being willing to part with Nemec when Vancouver is backed into a corner with their situation and Miller’s NMC.

I would offer Hamilton or Meier straight up and play hard ball. Both (if they would waive) are pieces that beat anything the Rangers would offer given Vancouver wants to be competitive now. Unless the Rangers decide to throw together a package with K’Andre Miller or Cuylle or Bedard + picks and prospects.

I’m not convinced this isn’t all a ploy by NJ to pressure the Rangers into not getting Meier for scraps. If all they’re offering up is Zibanejad, this maybe forces them to put some other pieces on the table.

-New Jersey's window is just opening and Nemec is potentially going to be a good player on a reasonable contract for them going forward. They need those, especially with needing to pay Luke next season.

Something that would make more sense for both teams is something like Miller for Hamilton. It would also make the money work for both sides.

Hmm Nemec would be great but we have Willander coming in. I guess Willander can spend some time in the AHL but he looks NHL ready to me. There's only 1 RHD spot available in the near future as The Canucks have Hronek and Myers signed.

It's pretty pathetic when we are suggesting Myers in 3rd pairing over Willander/Nemec(if he was traded to us)

We'd be better off rolling Hronek, nemec, Willander on the right and Myers as the 7th dman
 
The issue with Vancouver is exactly what I stated last year

Overachieved. Every single year the league has 2 teams that come out of nowhere. Jersey did it a few years ago and fell back and are coming in again.

Vancouver was that team last year. They did what they always do when they're having a good season or a quality named player is available.

They sold massive futures to compete for the middle and regressed immediately after.

Miller is gone, no matter what people say about his "attitude" he's the 5th or 6th highest scorer with some of the best defensive numbers in the league since like 2019/2020 and at $8 million with the cap increases bring named/labeled he'll be a quality pick up somewhere.

But Vancouver is not gonna be it and some time will succeed with him where Vancouver just hasnt

To make the cap work, Palat is understandable but he also has a NMC.

Palat having a no movement clause is a great example of why some GMs refuse to hand out NMC's. That's horrendous.

That’s strange, Nucks fans were so sure they could trade EP40/Miller for someone like Draisaitl.

But now it sounds like the best piece they can get is Nemec who can’t even make the devils lineup.

only the people who are comparable to those who thought mtl could get pettersson for laine and a 3rd pairing dman
 
Obviously I don't have a clue in the world who is or isn't doing what, but the original Robinson tweet of "kicking tires" doesn't mean they have to have spoken to Van at all. It could be an internal "everyone and their dog knows he's available, hypothetically do we want him, and if so at what cost do we? So we could maybe start the convo if it came up"

VAN: Mercer, Tatar, 2nd (whichever of the 3)

This way, cap works, and NJD can put Miller in the top 6 as a winger to replace Mercer, or roll with J. Hughes-Hischier-Miller at C, Haula on the wing. Slightly less deep, but they have other moves they can make...

VAN gets a 23yo RH who can maybe play C? Given the opportunity, I wonder how he's do there. Tatar they could maybe sell if he doesn't fit, or maybe he fits and adds depth.

No chance Nemec is on the table, certainly not right now...

Unfair to Nemec for sure. He's down because he opened the year pretty, and playing bad because of it. Really picked it up and been great since, but the Devils aren't gonna bench a guy playing well to pull him up. Soon as there's an injury he's on the team.

It's not like he got competed off it while healthy lol

you do not want Mercer playing center. He is a ghost when he plays there.

In all honesty, I just can’t see under what planet that Vancouver accepts that deal (or the Rangers don’t beat it).

As a Devils fan, I’d be all for that but that is getting Miller for what amounts to scraps almost.

I agree that it's more than that, most likely, but I'm not sure by how much. We've seen what full no moves do to trade values and I'm not sure where Miller is looking to move to if he is traded.

The rangers supposedly offered Zib straight up and that's just a grenade of an offer for Vancouver so I'm not sure what the market is.

I remember you guys having a similar attachment to Nemec / Casey around the time of the Meier trade, but at some point you have to go into win-now mode.

Do you think Nemec does more to help you win a cup in the next 3 years than Miller?

As someone who likes your team but only follows casually, this seems like a total no brainer to me. Especially if the talk of trading Hamilton in the offseason to make room for Nemec are true. That seems like crazy talk to me.

You guys have an ancient Markstrom in net (older than JT Miller btw). Not trying to compete during this window would be a mistake.

"any of our top 3 D prospects" is hilarious btw. I get that NJD have some killer defensive prospects, but most team's 3rd best D prospect is a literal-who nothing burger of a player.
