They suppose the reglament has been specially made to give advantage to Canada, and there is a blatant violation of sport principles. They wonder and don't understand why so very powerful Canada team needs such cheap tricks. They sarcastically call it "a very fair canadian game" :sarcasm:

Here is the link: http://www.sport-express.ru/newspaper/2014-12-26/1_3/?view=page
Maybe i haven't understood something from google translation, but... where there's smoke there's fire :sarcasm:

So the issue is that some nations don't want to move from Toronto to Montreal for the medal round? I don't really see the problem here....

Ok I have no idea what the point is. The medal round is in Toronto in which Russia and Sweden will still be and won't need to travel. Can someone actually give the context of this?

I think it's saying because Canada automatically goes to Toronto for one of the quarters, one of the teams playing group stage in Toronto will have to go to Montreal to play their quarter matchup and if they win that, will have to go back to Toronto.

If that is the issue it is pretty clear that these teams are intimidated and are creating excuses early. Heard this in the olympics too iirc. Once again Sweden I think

Creating excuses let's them shift the blame if/when they lose, done by the weak to not to have to realize they failed because of their own inabilities

We're not even sending the team a time zone over. One team has to move from one rink to another. I don't see how this is stacking the tournament in Canada's favour. If Canada is playing it's games in Montreal then they are changing rinks as well.

This not a big deal really, but still the rules should be the same for everybody. I don't get why Canada should get a different scheduling. They should play by the rules like 1st in the group plays here and 2nd plays there, regardless of the nation.

Meh, not as bs as in 2011 when the scheduling was changed for the Quarters.

Not only did Russia have to play on back to back nights, but Russia had to play the earlier Semi Final. Problem would have been solved if they played the Quarters at the time Canada's game was scheduled. That way they could keep there wonderful ratings for the Canada USA Semi Final.

Still surprised that Russia team had so much in the tank after the OT and SO wins on back to back nights. Made the 3rd period come back against Canada to win gold even more surprising.

Even if this was true...being a host country whats wrong with making the best situation for your own team? But to the main issue here personally I don't see any problem with this. As was mentioned, it's not like teams are going from Toronto to Alberta or Toronto to Vancouver. It's a freakin 2 hour plane ride...get a grip! Hop on a plane relax for an hour or two read a book or eat something and you're in Montreal or in Toronto in no time. Just flat out excuses before the tournament even starts. Laughable really.

And?

Canada is the host country, they pick the schedule. When Russia is the host country they pick the schedule, when Sweden is the host country, they pick the schedule, and so on.

^Not sure why you are pointing out an apparent Canadian bias above in 2011 since the USA hosted the tournament in 2011. They wanted the late SF and got it, because they were hosting. If you felt that strongly about it, maybe you should have tried harder, and got on the USA side of the bracket as a result.

I didn't point out Canadian bias, just said the U.S should have swapped the two QF's around as it was BS. Especially as it was done out of a ratings standpoint (Which is understandable). Guess you were looking for it to have a little rant  Chill. I didn't care too much since I am not Russian, although I follow Russian sport. I do know if the Russians pulled something like this the hysteria would have been immense on hfboards

if i understand that properly, they don't like the fact when 2nd team has to go to Montreal, while 3rd stays in Toronto. The worse team gets an advantage and this is a violation of sports principles.

Things like this are normal in hockey and have been for ages. It's what you get when the sport isn't very big and there just aren't enough voices to make the organizers hold high standard. If the sport would grow these things would become better. And the issues are mostly minimal so for now it isn't the end of the world anyways.

Oh. In the NHL the teams play back-to-back games for example in New York and then in Buffalo, and no problem there. Deal with it.

They have issues with the schedule ; yet don't even address our plan to weaken the Ruble before the tournament starts!

Muahahaha!

But seriously, this complaint is inconsequential.

It's really unfair to make them walk all the way to Toronto

this particular Russian website is notorious for this type of nonsense. At the first European Hockey Tour series in November, there was a big issue made of Mexican soup on the menu.

Ha!

Mexican soup... Oldest trick in the book.

Am I right?
