Moscow, Russia
So it's Karjala Cup time

Today's games: Finland vs Russia and Czech vs Sweden

Russian roster is all about young guys.

Nikita Gusev - Nikolay Prokhorkin - Alexander Barabanov
Anatoliy Golyshev - Andrey Svetlakov - Valery Nichushkin
Stepan Sannikov - Vladimir Tkachev (not former CHL Tkachev) - Sergey Shumakov
Vyacheslav Leschenko - Pavel Kraskovsky - Yegor Korshkov
Konstantin Okulov

Viktor Antipin - Alexey Bereglazov
Bogdan Kiselevich - Igor Ozhiganov
Andrey Mironov - Artem Zub
Rushan Rafikov - Ilya Lyubushkin

Ilya Sorokin
Igor Shesterkin

Not sure why Sannikov and not Filatov, Shalunov, or lil Tkachev. And why Lyubushkin and not Arzamastsev.

likely Finland roster

Joensuu - Koskiranta - Salminen
Savinainen - Filppula - Kuusela
Aaltonen - Kemppainen - Pyörälä
Pihlström - Sallinen - Jormakka

Kivistö - Kukkonen
Virtanen - Hietanen
Elorinne - Ohtamaa
Melart - Lajunen

Koskinen

Average age of this Team Finland is 29. And our oldest guy is Sannikov, who's 26. A lot of actual and possible NHL prospects on this Russian team.

Nikita Gusev EN 4-1

Vladimir Tkachev 5-1

Great game for Russian youngsters!.. Alright, probably not very young, but young enough. 2/3 of the team are U23.

5-1 even.

Surprised to see Finland loose so big! Not every day :o

On the other hand, Sweden not doing too well either

Russian team is very fast. Like really fast. I love it. Defensively they aren't great though. Good, that we have Sorokin in the net.

I was kind of impressed not much by our guys, they are all good, rather by our team. We played well, and win deservedly.
I wouldn't think too much about defense. We are always an offense-first team (we just have to, because Russians should not and cannot play defense-first) and have enough good dmen in the pipeline.

Odds almost give you 4x money on Czech Republic vs Finland.

Dunno how good this czech squad is though.

I'd pick Russia over Sweden anyday. In 10 games against Russia, usually win like 2 or 3.

Finland is like a old boys club at the moment. Even Miro Aaltonen got chosen just because of injuries lol. They really think these players who were good maybe 5 years ago will all be needed. Speed, youth and motivation are needed in these games, all of which are things that these old boys are lacking.
