The absolute kicker for this is that Haula was a member of the Hurricanes 4 years ago and was not at all pleased with his treatment here going so far as to embrace the role of self proclaimed villain whenever his teams played the Canes.

And every year since, as a Pred, Bruin, and Devil, he's ended his season shaking the hand of his former team in defeat.

Ouch

Unless they terminate Haula's contract after the 3rd round.

A bit of perspective; the Canes only gave Haula 2 days off after his wife had to have a still-borne miscarriage, which soured his relationship with the team.

What a villain.
First I've ever heard this, and you aren't even a Canes fan.

No, I'm pretty sure his relationship first soured because he was demoted in the lineup, and things only escalated from there. Him and his wife made negative public comments about Rod, the city of Raleigh, and the fans, etc.

When did he make negative public comments like that? I don't remember that at all. I do remember some internet-manufactured drama with people speculating about his relationship with Rod and reading narratives between the lines of his wife's Instagram posts.

Just recently the N&O quoted Haula and multiple players (Necas for sure) saying they really don't know why Haula gets singled out for boos the way he does. There was no fanbase-level issue with Haula until the Nashville series, when he got chippy with Necas and the fans latched onto it, because... playoffs. Then the following season, he's on the Bruins and we know how that goes. That's all fine and well in the context of a playoff series, but it somehow became this bigger thing.

One of the only guys on planet earth who has taken a cheap shot at Anze Kopitar

f*** this guy and he deserves every bad record that comes his way, i also hope every soda he opens is flat and every yogurt he ever opens is out of date
