Lol Tampa isn't giving up on 2 of their key defenders on good contracts.

Both are restricted free agents this year. Sergachev actual salary this year was over 7 million so next year’s contract I believe has to be higher than that. Both great players and yes, no doubt Tampa wants to keep them, just wondering if Tampa will be able to keep them.

Both of their contracts run out 2022-2023. There will be enough money by then to sign them. Although Sergachev might price himself out of Tampa. If it comes down to Tampa having to trade Sergachev, there will be plenty of suitors so I think the price will be higher than most people think. The "Tampa Cap Problems" thread probably won't have to be made that year. If Sergachev stays on his trajectory, a mid/low (around 20's) first and good prospect wouldn't be too far of a reach.

I don't think Cernak will go anywhere. He is pretty irreplaceable, while Sergachev is a complete luxury.

Sorry, I misread cap friendly. The 21/22 column is gone. Both contracts are real good deals and yes, Tampa should keep them and go for another run. Your team is completely stacked. If Sergachev ever did become available I hope LA is one of the suitors

I think Sergachev could be get this off-season. He makes too much money to be played on Tampa’s bottom pair and Tampa need the cap space to re-sign Palat.

The fact that Sergachev "plays on Tampa's 3rd pair" is a big reason why they are so good tho.

Also he might play "3rd pair", but he's part of their Big 3 on D and has been for the last 3 years

If J.T Miller goes for like a top 5 pick I don't even want to imagine Sergachev's value right now. I shit on the guy constantly but he's saved his best hockey for now and Bah Gawd King it's glorious

How?

Sergachev, Cernak, Cirelli, Foote and Ross will all be due a raise and they have 20.9 million (plus whatever the increase of 22-23 is over 83.5M if any) to sign all four plus at least 3 other players.

Cernak and Cirelli easily takes 10M by themselves so 10.9 million for at least 5 players.

The 2022-2023 TB roster looks like with 20.9M (or maybe a bit more) to spend:
Stamkos - Point - Kucherov
Maroon - ABB - Hagel
XXX - XXX - XXX
XXX - XXX - XXX

Hedman - Bogosian
McDonagh - XXX
XXX - XXX

Vasilevsky
XXX

You have a few prospects that can probably fill some depth role for cheap, but AFAIK no cheap ELC top6/top4 guys.

That's a deadly drop from your current roster.

I don't know man; prospects are a big unknown.

Byfield is looking like a career 3rd liner and Turcotte probably spends most of the time as an AHL'er at this point. Take risks.

We are at the bottom of the league because we took risks.

Trading away 1st rounders for Gems like Sekera and Lucic is a great way to prevent future progress.

Jakub Zboril, who was picked with our 1st, is exactly the LH defense we are desperately to trade for these days.
We also traded away Cernak for a 2nd rounder because of lack of patience.

We should keep all of our prospects and judge them when they turn 24-25 and only trade for a clear benefit
