Pep trying to force youth in the lineup? Lewis looked lost for England as well.Every time I see Lewis play he looks like absolute trash.
Looks alright on the ball, but complete lost off of it.
His only other option is Foden in the midfield and Grealish out wide but foden hasn’t been playing well this year.Pep trying to force youth in the lineup? Lewis looked lost for England as well.
It feels like he spends a ton of time walking around and pointing where other players should go instead of actually doing anything useful himself.Pep trying to force youth in the lineup? Lewis looked lost for England as well.
I thought the same about Kalvin Phillips, but he completely prov....It feels like he spends a ton of time walking around and pointing where other players should go instead of actually doing anything useful himself.

I have a hunch that City's academy likely fixates on the technical, on-the-ball, build-up proficiency of defenders, rather than on defensive positioning - based on the notion that "every defender should be able to be a 6." Lewis looks wayward defensively but is tidy in possession, Eric Garcia is brutal defensively but tidy in possession, etc. Seems possible to me that they're letting the philosophy of "your youth teams should play like your first team does" over-inflect their player development.Pep trying to force youth in the lineup? Even when his team is in possession he looks lost. Like he doesn’t know where to go unless the ball is physically at his feet or there’s a very obvious run to make.I have a hunch that City's academy likely fixates on the technical, on-the-ball, build-up proficiency of defenders, rather than on defensive positioning - based on the notion that "every defender should be able to be a 6." Good point. Ball playing is more important and if the kid doesn’t figure it out defensively well that’s on him.I have a hunch that City's academy likely fixates on the technical, on-the-ball, build-up proficiency of defenders, rather than on defensive positioning - based on the notion that "every defender should be able to be a 6."
