Thank god this nightmare is almost over
The nightmare continues if we win tonight.
We'll lose the lottery anyways so it doesn't matter. And after we lose the lottery, Vegas will get sloted in front of us.
Doesn't work that way. Vegas isn't slotted into the draft, they are slotted into the lottery. If we finish 29th they are slotted behind us for lottery and can only pick ahead of us if they win a higher spot.
That's why losing today does matter.
If we win today we might be drafting 8th..... loss .. worst we can do is 5th..
Landing the 8th spot will cost us one of those 4 centres we do badly need
Isn't the game on at 6pm or is it actually 5pm? I'm cool with 5pm...
I still want Matt Benning to score a goal.
Another long off-season without Canucks hockey incoming. Twenty days to the draft lottery so we can endlessly debate who we should select in June. Then there's the whole expansion draft discussion, though it appears fairly clear who the Canucks are going to expose. Then free agency. Then... August. Ugh. This sucks.
Low odds to draft 8th but decent odds to drop to 6 or 7.
At 29th we can't drop below 5 and still have decent odds to draft 4 or higher.
There's no doubt that dropping to 5th today would be terrible for us.
Plus a couple slots in each subsequent round. Not a tonne of value, but it counts.
Lottery only effects the first round. If the Canucks finish 29th and lose the lottery they would still draft 2nd in each round after the first.
