BingoIt felt like Dubas was basically putting it out there it was super hard for his family to go into the last year of his deal without a contract extension.

Dubas will be back if he wants to be. Not necessarily on merit, but because he has to be.
It's unrealistic to bring in a new GM and expect them to make sweeping changes right off the bat. They'll want to evaluate the core, coaching staff, etc, and that will take at least a season.
Last year Shanahan, Dubas and Keefe came out in lockstep (virtually holding hands) with the Trio telling everyone that they were all coming back and doubled down on their belief in the dream team.
This year Shanny the main decision maker on management future was absent and unavailable for comment even, and Kyle talking about how taxing the job personally is based his inability to assemble a winning team.
So things are certainly a lot different then last year, and more questions then answers.
My pure speculation would be that Shanny when he stands in front of the board might have to present them with options. Option A - Keep Dubas and move forward or Option B; Offer another GM option for consideration.. Simply walking away from Dubas without another or better option and leave a big hole in management is not a logical position for the organization to put themselves in. Dubas might simply be back not on performance but not having a better option at present and NO GM is worse.
However we were told that this would be a "prove it year" for Dubas and Keefe and they would need to earn their extensions. Instead being out after just 3 playoff wins and this year delivering a measly 5 playoff wins is up for debate if they "earned it".
Again, sick f***s.
Cannot even believe what I'm reading here. This is sad and f***ing evil.
This nonsense about how hard it was on his family this past year? Wonder what he was trying to achieve there. Are the fans really supposed to empathize with a multi-millionaire not getting a guaranteed multi-million extension heading into his fifth year with no playoff success? He put himself in that position.
And if that was about how hard it is to be a GM in toronto well I mean we tell players to suck it up. Being part of hockey in toronto comes with pros and cons. He can go be a GM in Arizona and make much less if he wants.
That's something I don't understand with all of these posters that want to keep Dubas. I want Kyle but he has has to do X, Y and Z.
Well I want Keira Knightly. But she has to trade away all our shit players for good ones, win the Cup every year, draft the best players from each draft and make the tickets $10.
Work-life balance is a thing and I didn't find anything wrong with that comment tbh. If I was to make a decision, which has a lot of implication ofc I would discuss it with my Fiance. I am assuming it was taxing as well.I just said I don’t mind him returning, so this isn’t anti Dubas obviously, but I found the family card a bit much on one level. It was so hard not having a contract this year? Seemed a a bit self serving, can’t every player and coach say the same thing? Anyways.
Pretty sad if people are harrasing his family cuz of the Leafs. Is that the case or are we going down that road because of past player's families?
I got the sense it could be health related within the family
Kyper thinks they are coming back with the mandate to trade one of the core 4. Thinks it should be Marner who will give you the best return.

That was my thinking as well.
However, he also went into depth about some of his potential plans, such as the coming marlies, trading a member of the core 4, etc.
So I'm not sure, feels almost 50/50%.
I hope he's back. Loved what he said, especially about how everything is on the table.

This is the town where someone helped Patrick Peterson find his place during a -40 degree snowstorm
Someone I know saw Amir Johnson at the airport and went up to him and he seemed shocked people recognized him
Unless you're looking for trouble you're not going to get harassed especially with the price if real estate here.
If they're getting stressed about HF boards or reading hate on Twitter that's on them unfortunately
Sounds like he wants Shannys job lol.
Doesnt have to do the nitty gritty, day to day shit but can still be involved and have final say in all the decisions. Maybe allows him to stay in Toronto more with his family.
Aka the Masai Ujiri and Bobby Webster set up.
You think GMs are reading HFBoards???? Lmaooooooo
To be honest, I'm not overly impressed with Kyle seeing a change needs to be made. We could've hired 50 people from these boards that knew this 3 years ago.
3 years absolutely wasted. He seems like a really good guy. Always has done. He isn't my idea of a great roster builder. His decision making is always too late.
But he'll get extended. We'll trade Nylander, which is a mistake and we'll move ahead with the big 3 x11 mil players. Even though we cannot carry 3 X 11 mil players.
Bruh, how lazy are you that at age 40 you wanna be a President to skip on the day to day stuff?
Prediction:
Shanahan will be gone. Dubas to President, Wickenheiser to GM. Spots below them will shuffle around.
Same way any high pressure job is hard on a family I'd think. Long hours, stressed out, away a lot. That drips in to family life.
The timing of production versus what is being quoted is very different. The timing of the goals was way different and would've been great if they brought it when it matters the most.
I mentioned it in around the league thread but Jason Tatum's performance in the NBA is a perfect example. Stunk it up at the beginning of the series but was back against the wall, time to step up, and he did, game 6 & overtook game 7. Different sport but similar to how Justin William would step up in NHL the last years. Being Clutch and needing to produce and thriving in those moments.
Everything should have been on the table for a few years. Instead he doubles down on his vision and the core. That was my thinking as well.

Yeah, that dude was a total loser.I remember there was a guy on twitter or some other social media going after his grandma earlier in the season
