The points he made are spot on? May not be enough to save Keefe's job (doesnt sound like Keefe will survive based on the comments to me), but they did makw adjustments throughout the series that created opportunities. Sadly we didnt finish many of them
Tell me more about these adjustments they made.

This. People sit here and complain about " we can and we will" and yet want him to come out and say he is trading a player? What if the offers are crap? He has to force a trade?\

Damned if you do damned if you don't
He did mentioned the Tkachuk trade and these trade don't just happened. Which I agree 100% with.

But if we are playing that game then you have to give credit where they did deserve to win in other first rounds.
They played well last year but couldn’t close it out, this year they were lucky to survive. Not sure it’s the choice you posit. Did they deserve to beat Montreal, Columbus?

I don't know? It is his family lol
Everyone has family, not everyone talks about their family when facing the media.
WTF is that you dont understand here?
It was a simple question, what don't you understand? Too simple for you? Too complicated?
Maybe his family was getting verbally harrassed? I know people should ignore that in this business but eventually it takes a toll. His family is young too. We literally had someone make a video attacking Grandma Dubas about his grand son. It's maybe why Dubas said it's either here or I'm taking time away from hockey.
Maybe. That would had to have been recent though I guess, I mean the regular season was good, then we beat TB, most people loved what Dubas did at the TDL so ... I'm just wondering what the problem is.
Here's where I come in and over-analyze everything.

As far back as October we had Dubas on video freaking out. Remember in October "Jesus f***ING Christ. f*** ME!!!!" meme? In the playoffs we see him smashing a water bottle on the ground and another time where he's shouting at Tampa fans. There are numerous other examples I can't remember right now. He didn't show any of this behaviour years prior.

The stress clearly got to him and changed his personality a bit. Which in turn stressed out his family. I think putting so much faith in a group of 4 players and overpaying them so significantly created a situation where he mentally broke down as they endlessly disappointed him.

My guess is that Dubas wants an extension to try and finish what he started, but only if the price is right. If not, or he's not offered an extension, he'll take a season off to de-stress and chill out with his family.
That sounds plausible. Anyhow, I wasn't listening so I wondered if he explained. I mean it was a good season up until we lost to FLA and it's not unusual for people to be stressed at work from time time so yeah, just wondering what the big deal is.

You have to be some kind of sick f*** to even think that this was "selling" or acting.

Jesus christ your hatred is some next level shit

It was acting. He sad because of the raise he should be getting isn't coming. He is upset for his wallet, he is all about him and his image.

Then he simply has to go as well.

I'd be cautiously optimistic for Dubas returning, but only if he is willing to cut Keefe loose and find a qualified NHL coach.
Dubas then you haven't learned anything

Our defensive structure sucks breakout are crap been that way for a f***ing long time.
Keefe is still learning on the job at our expense

Say his name Kyle
Laviolette
Say it again Kyle
Laviolette

Go listen to the rest of the quote and please stop putting stock in any quote that is plucked out of a longer conversation by the media.

He outlined that he wasn’t thrilled with the team (including keefe) and that without those adjustments he’d probably be far more harsh in how he views it.

Dubas will be back if he wants to be. Not necessarily on merit, but because he has to be.

It's unrealistic to bring in a new GM and expect them to make sweeping changes right off the bat. They'll want to evaluate the core, coaching staff, etc, and that will take at least a season.

We're what, 4 days removed from the game now?

If there's any crying to be done it was already done. Dubas is and always has been a politician to the core - from the way he talks, to the words he uses, to his demeanour with handling media and everything.

WTF does this even mean. not on merit but because he has to be? That's insanity. They guy was a flop and his coach too. The idea he can turn around everything in short order is even more insane. He has not been able to do it yet. He fails every year. Fail after fail after fail after fail.

So keep a GM but you have to mandate that he does certain things!?
That's something I don't understand with all of these posters that want to keep Dubas. I want Kyle but he has has to do X, Y and Z.

Well I want Keira Knightly. But she has to trade away all our shit players for good ones, win the Cup every year, draft the best players from each draft and make the tickets $10.

Kyper thinks they are coming back with the mandate to trade one of the core 4. Thinks it should be Marner who will give you the best return.

They limit the amount of questions. Thats how pathetic this org has become.
Most pro teams do that now. They don't want the free-for-alls of the old days.
This should've been the answer two summers ago
It kind of was. Dubas said during 2021 training camp that he explored moving a core piece but didn't like any potential return.
The next 2 months might get pretty interesting
Definitely will be.
Did he actually say he'd fire Keefe?
How can he fire or not fire anyone when his own job is up in the air?

Really strange that Dubas can't even say he wants to be here because of how hard this year was on his family. No idea what they went through but it seems like it got to him

He’s intelligent. He is stalling. Something in his statement is a red herring.

1.He knows he ruined the first few years of Speed and Skill hockey. Then proceeded to do a 180 in these last 4 years and go acquire Tougher guys every trade deadline since. Generally, all season addons were MEH, until this season with RoR, Schenn, Mccabe, Laferty.

2. He also knows he payed extra for a core 4 and COMMITED to them, who underperformed VASTLY. And now the Leafs as a club is suffering going forward unless changes are made.
***I know Nylander is the exception here, but the sentiment is still the same where he still needs some extra bite and edge to his game, or needs other plays unlike Matthews and Marner.

3. Now it seems like he has to have a huge soul searching moment, wether he has to fire Keefe. Probably best buddies, and their families are intertwined, and no matter how cordial you are, or understanding, Firing your Best buddy, spiting the kids and relatives ain't easy to do, and maybe Keefe doesn't have another job in the NHL after. Who knows.

SO...

He is either going somewhere else. With or without Keefe.
Or he will Fire Keefe and stay.
The guy needs to sort things out before his big decision.

IMO. The family stuff is red herring, shiny distraction way of saying no comment.

Like the changes to winger positoning for the Panthers pinching D? Remember how its all you heard about Game 1, period 1 then largely disappeared as a narrative after? They changed spacing and started using more outlets rather than asking the wingers to make a play at the line.

Exactly like he referenced today, its also how we had multiple odd man rushes early in Game 3

Great.

Doesn't change how I feel about what I posted one iota. I think Dubas took a while but is now a good GM. However if he can't cut ties with Keefe I believe it's best they both go.

Again, sick f***s.

Cannot even believe what I'm reading here. This is sad and f***ing evil.

If Kyle brings you to a cafeteria with a bunch of other followers and provides the Kool-Aid, don't drink it.

Sounds like he wants Shannys job lol.

Doesnt have to do the nitty gritty, day to day shit but can still be involved and have final say in all the decisions. Maybe allows him to stay in Toronto more with his family.

Aka the Masai Ujiri and Bobby Webster set up.
