For sure, just wasn't sure if he specified or if there was something public from throughout the season. I didn't watch his full talk.Sympathy so the hard questioned aren't asked

We haven't heard anything but it could be many things. Maybe public harrassment of his family? Being away from home for too long?Did something happen? Not trying to be a dick, genuinely curious if there was an incident or if he's just speaking more generally.
Anything can be a negotiating tactic... but saying you want to stay with the Leafs or take time off is a terrible tactic if his goal is to get more money or whatever. Competition creates a bigger need. I didn't hear what Kyper said but he's an idiot to be perfectly honest.
It's a lot more likely like he was being honest that he wants to take a little bit of time to reflect and talk to his family.
That is silly talk. You make it sound like winning coaches never had seasons where they lost, or didn't perform to expectations. There have not been too many rookie or first season coaches that have won the cup. Not saying I want Keefe back, but that is quite the blanket statement. If he keeps Keefe nothing will change.
Or Eichel the year before. It seems every year a major player or two become available and the Leafs don't make a run at them because this core is untouchable, now hopefully they can turn the page on a major roster player or twoshould have been for Tkachuk last year. Dragons Den son would have loved that
Does anybody have a link to the dubas press conference?
Agreed, Keefe has proven nothing except how to be out-coached as soon as the playoffs startIf he keeps Keefe nothing will change.
Why do we all (I'm including myself in this) take these words all so literally? Saying outright that you're talking to other organizations before you officially leave your current organization isn't actually an option so he couldn't say that if it were the case. And it's never a lie that your family is a major consideration regarding your future.
LMAO it really don't take much to sell you guys on something does it?The guy is about to cry. He f***ing cares. He really do.
So f*** you all, Dubas haters.
Ah Goddamnit, he’ll bring back his buddy if he’s back.
I don't think it was a negotiation tactic. He got an offer in hand but wants to talk to the wife about it. Also, it is a pretty dumb negotiation tactic to state I will resign or won't do anything.Maybe, but I'm not sure saying it's the Leafs or nowhere for him is a very good negotiation tactic. I think he's just legitimately concerned about his family
I am likely in the minority. But I actually felt good about Kyle's interview. It's very obvious that change is required, and without directly saying he'd explore that, he all but did.
I was listening via radio, and I didn't get to see facial reactions, but it also sounded like there was more emotion involved in the tone of his voice. Almost as if he knew that his vision and faith in the core was not correct.
At the end of the day, I don't expect our GM to bat 1000%, Which is something I don't think Kyle has ever claimed to do. He has shown an unwavering support to the core 4, and those 4 players in particular have let him down. Most specifically Mitch and Auston IMO. Time and time again, when we need our big dogs to make a play, they are no where to be seen. I think he is aware, as are we, how incredibly rare their talent level is. But I think we, along with Kyle are starting to realize that it means nothing if that talent doesn't show up when you need it the most.
To me, It's always been about Mitch and Auston. Unbelievably talented players. Arguably the 2 most talented Leafs players of all time. But there is a consistent trend with those 2 when it comes to big moments. I used to subscribe to the logic that, once they got through the hurdle of the 1st round, anything could be possible. Yet there we were, in the 2nd round, with the same old song and dance. Big time players no showing in big time moments.
I don't know what the future holds for Dubas. I genuinely think he is the right guy for the job. He knows this core better than anyone. The one thing I gathered from his press conference is that he knows changes need to occur.
time will tell.
I’m taking everyone at face value today, the injuries, the comments, I don’t know why I’m these moments do reflection we always seeking an alternative reality from the one articulated. Dubas was completely forthcoming here, there was no subterfuge. The way he said it, multiple times I might add, that he isn't going to take a GM job with another team I think says a lot. He doesn't have to say he's negotiating with other teams or looking at leaving. All he had to say is that he had no comment on the matter. There are many ways of avoiding it, but he didn't. The fact that he said it multiple times in that press conference that he's either staying or likely taking time off says a lot.
Is it possible he's lying out of his ass? Yep.
I hope so we need something to shake up this team matner or mathews. The next 2 months might get pretty interesting
The year has been hard and he is just going to talk to his wife tonight…….really?Kyle: "...this year has been hard on my wife. We'll talk tonight."
F*** me.
He’s his life long buddy, there is. I objectivity as it relates to Sheldon, the fact he was even back this year, proof positive. It’s almost absurd on the face of it.Reading between the lines it really seems like management didn't view Keefe as a problem at all.
LMAO it really don't take much to sell you guys on something does it?
Signed Matthews more or less has the same value as not signed McDavid. I don't think McDavid wants any part of Oilers. If he wants to come here it's only because of the home crowd and home team.McDavid for Matthews+ is very possible, but they would want a signed Matthews to make it work. Otherwise they wouldn't.
The points he made are spot on? May not be enough to save Keefe's job (doesnt sound like Keefe will survive based on the comments to me), but they did makw adjustments throughout the series that created opportunities. Sadly we didnt finish many of themThen he simply has to go as well.
I'd be cautiously optimistic for Dubas returning, but only if he is willing to cut Keefe loose and find a qualified NHL coach.
Yeah listening to Dubas cite examples of Keefe's "excellent coaching" made me cringe, but at least he ended up not really committing to him. Much better than last year when he insisted Keefe would be a future coaching legendReading between the lines it really seems like management didn't view Keefe as a problem at all.
Lost in a lot of this discussion, we really didn’t “deserve” to win the first round, in fact I’d argue last year was a better showing.
