Im fine with Dubas getting a 2 year deal

But he needs to either trade a core 4 piece if the value is there

Or

Have keefe in the shortest leash possible. If the leafs come out poor next year fire him, if we have a series of poor games mid seasin fire him

The team he built was good enough ti conted this year. A good team outside of a few areas.

If hes sticking here

1. Deal Murray hopefully at Mrazek value
2. Seriously see if there is a way to upgrade in Brodie
3. Ror, Schenn, Acciari brought vack for good cao hits
4. Force Keefe to care about developing Nick Robertson into a legit top 6 winger. Give him top 6 minutes, be lieniet of his mistakes, top PP time. This is a kid woth talent that is super cheap. We need to maximize his abilities and transition him onto the team
5. Get 34 and 88 extended to bareable contracrs
So keep a GM but you have to mandate that he does certain things!?

I really do not buy this "need to talk to the wife, we have not talked about the options" ect... I gaurentee he and his wife have fully discussed life after Toronto this year. Only thing they would need to talk about are about the incoming offers that come his way from other team. (Also if another team makes him a good offer he would be there come the start of next season)

I would not be against him staying for a few more years though, its not like he is a bad GM.If you ignore the fact of all the pics he gave up to have other teams take his mistake signings.

His fate was tied pretty strongly to the playoff outcome. So they likely discussed that.

I think the bad second round loss was somewhat unexpected so he has no idea how Shanny and company will view that.

Toronto is a hard market, no doubt it would be tough on a guy with a younger family and his family themselves

Kyle didn't say if he has an offer on the table from MLSE, or if he has to approach them and beg for one.

Seems like they have had preliminary talks about him staying. Dubas said he has a decision to make, moreso than the other way around. He made it seem like it was up to him if he stays or not.

We'll see what Shanahan has to say I guess.

Really strange that Dubas can't even say he wants to be here because of how hard this year was on his family. No idea what they went through but it seems like it got to him

if it is some personal thing that he is going through or his family then I completely understand and I wish him and his family the best of everything.

I really hope this isn't because of "hockey"; because then I really wouldn't buy it.

Will be an interesting offseason all the way through

I’m with Dubas being re-signed.. won’t be particularly impressed if Keefe isn’t fired.. and will be least impressed if they run it back with the core.

That being said you can’t Kadri trade the core, don’t make a move for the sake of it
Dubas's facial expressions kind of told he's upset. He's actually open to changing the core. He even used Florida as an example when he didn't have too.
If he wants to stay, he needs to be signed under the assurance he will change things up and replace Keefe.

The suggested items are areas which are key to our succsess imo

Im sure dubas already recongizes most of those (34 and 88 extension is a duh)

He just can't be patient and hopeful with Matt Murray. Cut bait like hes done in yhe past

Nick robertson again is vital for the 2024 leafs.

Hes at the point whete if he breaks in and hits youve got a star. We've got to have keefe develop and maximize him, lilijgren and Knies next year

I know people say the NHL isnt a development league but a lot of young players are developed in the NHL via strong coaching and support strucutres.

Tbe leafs will make the playoffs again. So lets develop the three young support kids to become the best they can be rather than having them be grinders worried ablut making one poor play and riding tbe pine

Kyper thinks Kyle is using this as a negotiation tactic to get more money from the Leafs. Sounds like the non extension was all about the money.

Demote Dubas to pro scout and hire that assistant GM from Carolina. Oh and fire Shanahan.

Less pressure on Dubas and his family. Check
Gets to stay in Toronto. Check.
Doesn't have to negotiate deals which he sucks at. Check.
Toronto gets a true nerd running the show. Check.

He even said stuff like we have a lot of cap space this off season and other stuff related to future. He's probably staying then but it's up to his family

How abour firing KEEFE for starters?

Regardless of his decision and the direction, a decision needs to be made pretty fast. There's nothing worst than going into an off-season without direction or a clear manager.

We have a lot of big decisions looming.
