Its been since Day 1 we've said that Dubas that is not the right way to build the team. His Hubris "we can and we will" and relying on "Petans, malgins" of the world; protecting Holl in teh seattle expansion draft, not trading kerfoot,

and of course not to mention the ridiculous contracts that were handed out


you gotta reap what you sow


nobody "hated" dubas the person; we all hated what he was doing to the team and the hubris with which he was going about doing things.


Also, not confirmed, but I am very positive that he on purpose sabotaged babcock especially when all the character assassination pieces were written about babcock in the media; I just knew it. That was absolutely uncalled for IMO. if every player ever played had bad things to say about babcock tht would have been a different story; few players had bad things to say and media portrayed it as if babcock is evil person right after he got fired

well.... universe finds a way to balance things out. the question is whether you admit your mistakes and show remorse or double down on what you did?

I really do not buy this "need to talk to the wife, we have not talked about the options" ect... I gaurentee he and his wife have fully discussed life after Toronto this year. Only thing they would need to talk about are about the incoming offers that come his way from other team. (Also if another team makes him a good offer he would be there come the start of next season)

I would not be against him staying for a few more years though, its not like he is a bad GM.If you ignore the fact of all the pics he gave up to have other teams take his mistake signings.

But he needs to either trade a core 4 piece if the value is there

Have keefe in the shortest leash possible. If the leafs come out poor next year fire him, if we have a series of poor games mid seasin fire him

The team he built was good enough ti conted this year. A good team outside of a few areas.

If hes sticking here

1. Deal Murray hopefully at Mrazek value
2. Seriously see if there is a way to upgrade in Brodie
3. Ror, Schenn, Acciari brought vack for good cao hits
4. Force Keefe to care about developing Nick Robertson into a legit top 6 winger. Give him top 6 minutes, be lieniet of his mistakes, top PP time. This is a kid woth talent that is super cheap. We need to maximize his abilities and transition him onto the team
5. Get 34 and 88 extended to bareable contracrs

I’m with Dubas being re-signed.. won’t be particularly impressed if Keefe isn’t fired.. and will be least impressed if they run it back with the core.

That being said you can’t Kadri trade the core, don’t make a move for the sake of it

Dubas's presser was different then it usually is. It does seem like if he's back, he's changing the core up and actually wanting to make a change.
Keefe's presser was terrible though.

Seems clear to me Shanny isn't going anywhere and will be doing his review of dubas/keefe. He didn't show up today because he can't give any answers on futures. I believe the family stuff because he said he wont be a GM next season anywhere else so he wouldnt want to lie publically.

So its either Shanny wants Dubas back and they give it ago while making core and coach changes or Dubas/Keefe both out.

It was asked explicitly at the end of the presser "Are you saying you will either be TOR GM or take time away from hockey?" and he answered "Yes".

From Dubas presser, I missed the Keefe presser due to work.

1. Seems like there is an offer made to him from MLSE and he needs to look at it with his wife and family.
Sounds like a long contract and might even be a promotion, which means more heat on him, or he understands what he needs to do once he is back at GM, like firing his great friend-Keefe, and want to talk to his wife about it, most likely bc their families are friends.

2. I liked that he said the goal was always to win Cup instead of getting past the First Round.

3. He mentioned about the Panthers and how they trade TWO core pieces to get one and here they are today. Acknowledge that this trade don't just happen, it is carefully thought out. Could be bc they got bounced by Panthers but also he is open to the idea of trading the core.
