feels like they have made a lot of progress

This is how you know he is the wrong coach. Okay, along with many other things.

They got outplayed most nights by the Bolts and lost in 5 to an 8th seed team that can't match the Leafs man-for-man except in goal when Bob is on a hot streak.

How about some honesty? We should have been a LOT better. We were an OT goal and a game 7 loss for owning the record for the longest futility streak in NHL history. We weren't aggressive enough. Our stars didn't score when they needed to. I made some really bad coaching decisions. We had to rely on a rookie goalie in the 2nd round because our GM put his faith in a tandem featuring a broken down goalie and one with a short, unpromising playoff history. I really shouldn't be sitting here today, I should be looking for a new job but thankfully Dubas and I are buds and he's a very loyal bud.

Okay, no coach would ever be that honest but "a lot of progress"?
I guess it's possible he'll still be fired, same goes for Dubas and Shanahan. In NHL history I'm sure a team got past the post-season presser before making moves, but if he stays ... The first of many times I'll say this next season: "This is the same team, so expect the same result."

Notice how every player mentioned everything but the complete playoff meltdown.
I appreciate all the updates people are providing, I didn't listen myself. If you keep pretending game 3 never happened, maybe you start believing it at some point?

Post-Mortem Monday: Keefe

* Says he can have honest discussions with the core 4 - says they respond well when being challenged and pushed. Highlights Nylander having a career year, as a guy they've pushed hard to get to this level, and that he's responded well. Says that while the core 4 didn't breakthrough in round 2, says their process and standard they set themselves earned them plenty of chances and looks.
So naturally, he kept him on a tight leash and took him off PP1, what an idiot. Just that might have been enough to cost us the first two games against FLA which were oh so close. If he's not fired, I find it hard to see how I'm going to be anything but miserable and pessimistic about the Leafs chances next season.

Didn’t Dubas say something about a different path needs to be adjusted. Sounds like if he is back he’s breaking up the core.

Really strange that Dubas can't even say he wants to be here because of how hard this year was on his family. No idea what they went through but it seems like it got to him
