Is there a world where Dubas could figure out how to get Tavares moved? I love Johnny but there's no question he's the Core 4 guy that has the least upside. That $11 million could go a long way to reinventing the supporting cast.

Also something to he said for moving on from a leader with his track record in the postseason. If changes need to be made, it makes sense to start with the aging captain.

Dumping Tavares is the Leafs version of the cutthroat test. Tavares is DeMar DeRozan and our Kawhi is cap space.

It sounds like maybe the club has brought up a short term deal as his only option for returning. That would require a bit of rumination. If he was just waiting to hear if he got fired it would be a bit pompous to suggest there was anything for him to consider.
